Let me tell you, you may be right in a certain circumstance, but you can be sure you won't get the chance to exercise your right in that particular circumstance, and chances are that while you squawk very loud about your supposed "regaining" of your consumer rights...

take taxi still want to choose, next time, got a stall, got an old man queueing up, 1st in line, then i cut in, you like tat meh?(note, mr lao=old man)

not happy don take taxi,
not happy don take mrt,
not happy don take bus,
not happy just walk ...

oh btw ... you may be 30/40 years old but your mentalily is of an kid who haven yet reach puberty ...

So at the end of the issue , does that driver got demerit ?

No means he precisely did nothing wrong , right ?

We have ways to defend ourself , LTA loopholes = to our defense , plenty of loopholes , that ..... just can't nail us .

I am so sure that Silver Arrow did nothing wrong ....

The person who did not exercise courtesy cannot nail him down one la .....

Wat consumer rights ? Consumer right's means 100% consumer is right , in this case , consumer not right ! hahahaha ....

LTA they have no ground to nail him .

The reply from LTA is nothing of a mandatory ......

We have Mandatory Ragulations , u know ?

Did they ( LTA ) bother to tell u about "Taxi-Stand" regulations for taxis ? No right !

Did they tell u about why " 2 taxis only " regulations at taxi stands ? No right !

Did they tell u taxi-drivers "must" mandatorily take u or they'll be hanged ?

I am not against queing for taxis. I am appalled at our capitalist cum socialist system. There are many taxi companies, ostensibly to give consumers more choices but in fact to create more managers and directors for the chosen elites. Same for many of the essential services here.

Thousands of taxi drivers are fighting for survival while the big bosses in each taxi company earn big salary. They lay down the rules and if you are not happy they tell you, "You have plenty of choices. Stop complaining."

So where is the consumer's choice?

And do you believe it - I am a part time taxi driver ?

Do u still believe , he/she a part time taxi driver ?
Who is lying ?

I agreed with you that out of courtesy, we should not choose the taxi but my point is "knowing our rights as a consumer." Secondly, I apologise (to you) that I had to resort to profanity, just like some of those uncouths. My grandfather once told me,"When you speak to a man, use human language. When you speak to a roach, just say sh***it."

As your name implies you THINK before you write. You are one of the very few who writes with wits and wisdom here. Measured and calculated, you obviously know what you are saying - unlike the bunch of petulant and querulous school boys who fart in their pants knowing nobody will find out who they are. Even with their pants stained, they still deny that they have farted ....hahaaa.

I hope to meet you in a cleaner environment where we can discuss issues more intelligently with intelligent people. My frequent places are City Hall, Capitol building and NLB, as I work in a University nearby.

No passengers doesnt mean there is no queue. The taxis are queueing to pick up passengers from the queue. If you are going to take a taxi in the queue, you would have to take the 1 in front coz you form a "1 - man" queue when u decided to take cabs in the line.

Its ethics, Imagine u queueing up to buy food, then i cut into the middle.

The LTA officer also said passenger can choose taxi but taxi drivers cannot choose passenger.

Reference to the Vocational License Point System (VLPS), which I was handed a copy by an LTA officer - among many things, here are the highlights with respect to my case.

Taxi drivers will be given 3 demerit points and fine $100 when they commit one of the following"

1 Hindering or obstructing other taxi drivers from picking up passengers

2 Refusing, without reasonable excuse, to hire out taxi or to convey passenger

3 Stopping, parking or stationing taxi at public stand when unable to let out taxi for hire

When Can A Vocational Licence Be Suspended Or Revoked?

A taxi driver’s vocational licence will be suspended when he accumulates 6 or
more demerit points. The period of suspension ranges from 2 to 8 weeks as
follows:

Demerit Points Suspension Period
6 to 10 - 2 weeks
11 to 15 - 4 weeks
16 to 20 - 8 weeks

Under the VLPS, a taxi driver will have his licence suspended in increasing
duration before his licence is revoked. These suspensions should serve as
warnings for him to improve his conduct before the licence is revoked.

A taxi driver’s vocational licence will be revoked if he accumulates 21 or
more demerit points within a period of 24 months.
