    • congrats to both…omo? or getting a relief?

wow suddenly 2 new sonata hirers…seems like nowadays new cabbies more daring… just whack to be a sonata hirer rather than try relief first… must be because new sonata too attractive… haha

ask you both, u all got check around other taxi companies packages before signing up sonata?

      - first few days learn what the sonata can do and cannot do…
      - depending on your driving and road knowledge, first weeks go slow and easy
      - slowly observe and gather about taxi demand patterns
      - after 6 months, you would know whether you can tahan driving liao… and during which you will also pick up bad habits liao…haha

and please feel free to update your particulars in the ‘list of cabbies and pax’ thread just to say hi.

      goodl luck

    • really? sonata day shift hard to get?

try this.. put short notes on sonata near your place

if you dont mind distance, approach comfort koisk to get wider match.

meanwhile, why not try other available timing on sonata near your place?

    • welcome jocular, cizzeler,

you guys planning to do the shift or the vampire shift? first 2 months probably quite low income cos on the learning curve. but dun worry, this curve very steep. u'll learn in a hurry.

keep in mind what poolman said earlier, the hard way is the best way. sure remember one. most important dun know say dun know, dun anyhow hantum. if pax knows = no problem, if pax doesn't know = alright if i take 30secs to check the street directory? ok = no problem, if not ok, please kindly take the next cab = problem solved.

GPS, useful but the Mark 1, mod Zero : YOUR BRAIN is still the best lor.

if very obvious tourist, don't ask which route would u prefer, how the heck would i know, i just arrived in Sin. and take the expected route. say..botanic gardens to paragon...take tanglin > orchard. tat way can see all the shopping centres/hotels, even if tanglin rd jam. cos, ah got shopping centres, must be orchard, taxi driver not taking me for a ride. u try going grange rd > orchard link...cannot see anything = taxi driver taking long way. "kiang do ho, mye ge-kiang"

      all the best

    • Still i think..... route is more important tham landmark .

U take one step at a time .... say your first pax from Tampines Mall want to go Suntec

U must asked : " U like me to go by which way ?"

      Pax will usually say : " Pie > CTE > "

Then u must be quick to think , CTE then where ?

      Orchard ? Balestier ?

If they let u decide , then easy to do things , if u dun asked and humtum , u are in trouble .

      Asked !!!

      Asked is free !!

Don't ask , customer trip to Suntec could be free .

    • Best way to learn : Get humtum left , right centre from commuter .

Learn thru the hard way .

Must believe this , i learnt that way , and where am i now ?

I would say , i know Singapore inside out , at least 98% now .

Since 2001 , til now ..... i hardly has got any problem .

You can la , relax .

    • Say Hello to Poolman. Thank you for your comment.

I in indoor sale for 10 years , so I think endurance is not problem for me.

I will not force myself to carry on if I felt that my body cannot take it.

Money is not the main factor because I felt that time past very fast when you are working.

I am a full time trader for past 3 years.

    • OMO? i will only try it if i need money desperately or when i retire…

if need money, body cant take it also must endure… haha

if OMO in retirement, it means driving for fun, for some income, and for free vehicle… if happy can rent out half a day here and there…

if u drive for past time only, taxi driving is the best job… no revenue stress, need to rush, can avoid jam easily, no need to pick pax u dont like, no need to risk bus lane, no need to take ulu call, no need to fight for pax, no need to drive till wee hours, wont feel upset with no show or slow moving traffic, no headache with partner driver, can rest anytime for very long…shiok

some more if go town shopping, pay ERP can get reimbursed…go sentosa free….haha…

i look forward to driving OMO during my retirement…

      hey jocular,

me first 2 months oso OMO, die cxxk stand. not bcos i wanted to, but was slowly looking for relief. sb siong lah, drive 5-6 hours just to cover rental & diesel. to make a decent income, drive another 5-6 hours, everyday 14 hours on the road, including 1 hour to topup diesel & clean the taxi. go home..only sleep, next day wake up..start driving again. life? what life?

if you work one shift earn $3k per month, can you work OMO and earn $6k per month? if can i salute you, especially long term, ex. 5 years. normal human being cannot tahan. simple calculation, on a shift how many hours you need to drive to net $150, as OMO how many hours you need to drive to net the same amount?

hmmz, unless you've made your millions and is actually as alvin says OMO in retirement? that one no need kan-chiong to make $$. very relaxed driving.
