Great Xmas Gift For Your Loved Ones
1993 Château Pichon Longueville 1.5L Red Wine For Sale
Going at $300
Rich, onctuous, fresh with a rare balance and elegance. The colour is very concentrated; dark ruby with purple hints. The nose is fine and delicate with notes of black cherries: one senses a mature wine, full of charm. Aeration unveils the full complexity of the nose: ripe fruit; violets, notes of wood. The attack is delicate, respecting the style of the chateau. Considerable volume in the middle of the mouth and a finish ensured by fine and dense tannins. This is a wine of great purity.
The Wine Advocate The brilliant, opulent, fleshy 1993 Pichon Lalande (65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot) possesses a high pH of 3.8 as well as 12.5% alcohol. Reminiscent of the 1982 Pichon Lalande (which never shut down and continues to go from strength to strength), the dense plum/purple-colored 1993 offers gorgeous aromas of blackberries, plum liqueur, sweet cherries, smoke, and melted licorice. Fleshy, full-bodied, and intense, displaying a seamless integration of wood, acidity, tannin, and alcohol, this beauty can be drunk now or cellared for 20 years or more.
The Wine Enthusiast Normally one of the most elegant of Pauillacs, the 2003 is big and dense. These dark tannins mask delicious black fruit, flavors of spice and layers of acidity. This is going to develop relatively fast, despite the density of the wine, just because it is so rich.
The Wine Spectator Very pretty aromas of plum, blackberry, chocolate, espresso and cherry follow through to a full-bodied palate, with ultrasilky tannins, refined fruit and a long, caressing finish. This is fine and refined with a wonderful texture. Not quite the 2000, but excellent.
