    • So ROM is over, hence the next step is to start looking towards the wedding banquet or the "Actual Day" as it is normally called. We have tentatively set it to be held sometime next year around September. So far I have done a bit of looking around and some of you here might be able to help me a bit so here it goes:

      a) The venue for the banquet.

Due to financial constraint, we have decided to host around 20 tables in Singapore and maybe another 10 tables for my relatives in KL. So for the tables in Singapore, we have a budget of around 400 to 500 per table and prefer it to be located somewhere which is easily accessible by our guests. So far my snooping around has given me one choice which is River City Restaurant in Excelsior Hotel. Would like to know if anyone has held their banquet there before? Or any suggestion for an alternative venue?

      b) The bridal studio

Most probably engaging some studios in Malaysia to do it for us as it is cheaper compared to the Singapore counterparts. Any suggestion as to which bridal studio which is not too expensive yet good at what they are doing?

      c) Photography on Actual Day

Any idea of which photographer would be able to take pictures on the Actual Day from the moment I leave my house (in JB) till the wedding dinner? How much is the charges? If not convenient to note it here, you can PM me smile.png

      Thanks for your help!

    • The venue for OCC banquet is 800+ per table without food, if u are looking for 400 to 500 per table with food u can only limit to restuarants. And restuarants honesty provides better food, I work in the F&B and I noe of a very famous restuarant called "Kim Tim" in hokkien or "Jing Jen" in chinese. Or you can go yishun SAFRA, that place is the cheapest I can know of. Yishun Lake Garden in OCC is also good, you can ring them up too. Tats all I know, hope got help. If you succeeded finding a good bargain through me, drop me a pm bah haha!

      a) Yes, I have checked out Peony Jade but it is a bit above our budget as each table is nearly 600 for weekend dinner.

      b) Yea, considering that one. Anyone who has taken up their package and would like to share with me their charges, services and pictures?

      c) Just PMed you ;)

    • the banquet budget really quite tight
perhaps u can consider Gim Tim (the grassroots club outlet)
      www.gimtim.com.sg
(i jus checked tt the site is currently down, so u have to call to ask them fax or email over the menus)

another one u can consider is Dragon Gate
which is the same group of restaurants as River City
comparing both, i think Dragon Gate slightly better.

Red Star (the dim sum place) has wedding banquet too

i think Yan Palace is big enough oso....

    • Not trying to be funny, but I would actually reccomend not having the dinner or just having a simple one. it serves no real purpose anyway. might as well use the money to buy your house or soemthing?

For me I support your idea, but when it comes to wedding dinner, all couples only have this once to enjoy in their lifetime, so it is not stupid to have it, afterall its a once in a lifetime experience, unless u are like my classmate the loser who have no gf and bought a pack of condoms in his bag and say its for standby...

      everyone oso hope for this....
ang paos big or small depends on 2 things - location and/or 交情
do in hotel ppl will tend to 自动 and give more

restaurants, unless is tunglok or country club ones, ppl give the standard restaurant market rate

the big ang paos usually come from bosses, colleagues, friends (esp single friends)

if u have godma godpa all these lagi better........

if u go facebook and found ur pri sch fren and ask him come, pls leh.... 20yrs no see, then go wedding, u think he give u big ang pao ma?

so the guest list must plan well lah.......
if is those one family with kids then is good luck lah
but then, give and take, some give more, some give less, some break even....

and everything is so easy to find out these days, ppl will know how much one table cost one loh....... or will ask around for market rate..........

but hor, wedding mah... happy occasion..... pls dun think of trying to "earn money" loh
      bery wrong concept lah

    • I have relatives in KL but most of my friends and his friends + relatives are from Singapore...should I just settle with one banquet in Singapore? Or should I do it once in Singapore and another time in KL just for my relatives?

      Hmm...I don't understand the mandarin part...I can't read chinese pai seh ><

It will be quite troublesome for them...because the dinner most probably will last till 10 or 11pm, then they need to find place to stay...

And another question is...if they do come over, must I prepare place for them to stay or they can go hunt on their own?

But if I do it in KL it will be troublesome on my side...and will add to the expenses as well...

Yea my grandma is already very old...definitely not convenient for her to travel around...

I find it very hard to satisfy everyone...I want to have it in both places, but I have the cost to consider...because it is not just about having the dinner there. Need to think about the transportation there (for me, hubby, my parents and his parents) and also the accomodation for at least 2 nights, plus the make-up and photography. But if I stubbornly want to do it just in Singapore, they might find me inconsiderate...sigh.
