    • Parking van is difficult because i couldnt see the back. Neutral And during forward drive i cant seem to keep my vehicle in lane because it is bonnet-less and i cant refer to it Rolling Eyes . Anyone have the same problem or can anyone advise me? Crying or Very sad

    • Haha..Lorry and van quite common lah..its just a matter of getting used to it..
For a while, i got so used to moving off from 2nd gear..

Drove the Dyna during my P-Plate year...

Sensing wise, you will learn slowly how to gauge the position from ur side mirrors...

      Bro,

The first vehicle I drove after I got my DL, was a passenger van, a Nissan Vannette. Though I agree with you that van does not have the front bonnet, you can easily drive it straight also. When doing the parallel and vertical parking, you got to quickly recognise which part of the van to substitute it for your rear small window of the car.

In fact, driving a van gives you a panoramic view of the road. Its higher that a car and you will feel comfortable.

Build your confidence fast and in a matter of time, you will like driving the van more than the car. Only 1 thing you have to remember, don't drive fast.

      CHEERS!

    • btw how come lorries tend to skip 1st gear? because they have enough torque to move at 2nd gear? then what’s the 1st gear for, moving off on ascending slopes?

    • The first gear has a lot of torque.
First gear is used when you got a lot of stuff in the back and, lets say you are going up a hill, then gotta use first gear.

First gear when moving off will cause wheel spin.

I'm not sure how they teach in schools for lorries, but my dad taught me not to use gear 1 to move off.

I tried it once, the delay is so short, its like after you step the acclerator, you gotta release to change to second gear.
