I still find your argument ridiculous regarding the road legality of the ENZO.... anyway, you didn't mention why you made the remark about ENZO not being road legal in the first place. I was merely asking you, what makes you said so.
If you deem that it's because it's a LHD and therefore not legal in SG, I find that alittle absurd.
It's common sense that if the importer is sell the car to you legally, Ferrari would have make it RHD. For example, the world saw a LHD Lambo or the aforementioned Porsche, but it doesn't mean that they cannot build a RHD for these cars if there's a demand for it. The same goes for ENZO.
Therefore I find your arguments absurd.
The reason I posted here is because if non Ferrari enthusiasts were to read your posting in this forum, they will deem that ENZO is REALLY illegal to drive on road and not just SG roads because you mentioned it's not road legal.
I think that's a hugh mistaken impression you portrayed; Or perhaps you didn't word it too well.
Ok, talking about limited production. Take a look at F40 ( ItÂ’s a Ferrari as well ) . It started production in 1987 and was limited to 400units initially. However the early birds had a shock when Ferrari continued production of the F40 in excess of the number to 1315 units due to strong demand for it. And I bet a lot of us donÂ’t know about the story on the F40 initial limited production numbers.
I drives a porsche 911 turbo 2002 model. It propels me off the line pretty fast. I used it everyday. My friend, who drives a Maserati couple, goes to work and park at Shenton way everyday. I think our cars are pretty fast. and oh yes, another friend of mine drives a soot filled rear Ferrari 360 to work at Kallang basin everyday. All these cars have a LHD in some other countries that you might have visited.
Even Lambo Murcielago was built and aim as an everyday use supercar.
Have you tried driving it? Well I did, and it was much little in clutch feel and steering feel compare to the Diablo.
So I disagree with you when you said that ENZO is not an everyday usable car. The power craze period where the world saw Mclaren F1, Diablo and the XJ200 is over. These are supercars that are hard to drive. Now the trend is towards building a supercar which the owner can use it everyday, like the Porsche Carrera GT and the Ferrari 360.
If the Murcielago wasnÂ’t imported and sold in SG and if you see a LHD Murcielago in say, UK, will that give you the impression that Murcielago is not road legal as well?
As a much traveled person like yourself ( I read from the previous posting ), I am shocked to know that you are not able to take marco view about these simple issues.
Anyway, I feel that your posting was intended to demean whether itÂ’s me or perhaps others in the forum and not really to discuss and correct any perception. Perhaps you felt the same about my posting to you, and hence the replies.
If you still keen to have a healthy doses of exchanges on car and likes, letÂ’s steer clear of personal remarks. Â…like for examples, car morons. DoesnÂ’t help much in understanding cars, does it?
the very simple view is that, in singapore, LTA says its illegal to drive it on the road, hence it is road illegal. We're talking about singapore here for Gawd's sake. Why don't u try driving an enzo out on the roads n see whether u get into trouble or not?
In UK, Enzos remain LHD but are road legal because our DVA allows LHD cars to be driven in UK. There is a premium u have to pay over RHD cars as levied by DVA, but otherwise the Enzo is considered road legal there.
In singapore, it is NOT road legal, which is why we can say someone who buys one in singapore really has a passion for cars. It is common sense that U can buy a car in singapore which has not been deemed road legal by LTA, but u cannot drive it. ownership itself is not a crime, but if u drive it on public roads, it is a crime.
All along what i've been saying is that the enzo is not road legal, in the context of Singapore! i wasn't saying that the Enzo is not a road legal car all over the world. I've seen it being driven in London, why would i say that? U have to take a look at previously, we were discussing in the context of exotics in Singapore, hence I wouldn't have to state unnecessarily that i am talking about singapore. on the other hand, u've come into the middle of a discussion, u have the responsibility to make it clear u understand what we were talking about, and not assume what u think we were talking about!
Lets just say if I wouldn't mistake a Murcielago as being only LHD because there are a pleathoria of RHD ones in UK. I dunno about being able to take a macro view or not, but i find your assumption without making sure that your understanding of the ongoing discussion was accurate, is indeed very irresponsible. As such why do u think most people here responded negatively to you? Non of my post was intended to demean, but perhaps some of them were intended to make u realise everyone here are talking about the context of singapore, as this discussion was originally set in.
As for other things, such as whether the Enzo is usuable as an everyday car, the answer is yes, but whether one would want to subject a car which is arguably a very limited edition and collectable car to the abuses of everyday uses, is subject to more discussion. And quite rightly, u will realise most owners would not use their Enzos as everyday cars. Why should they when they probably also own a plethoria of other more common exotics like a 360 or a luxuriobarge like a BMW 7 series? Ask yourself which car would give u a greater heartache if it got scratched or dinged: Enzo or 360 and I think u'd have the obvious answer.
Now that u've revealed what car u drive, i must say i am more shocked that u either don't know that LHD cars are generally not road legal IN SINGAPORE, or that u can be as irresponsible to assume that we weren't speaking in the context of what is considered road legal and whats not, in singapore. I mean unless your car's bought with parential money, u're probably doing some high paying job with heavy demands on responsibilities, so how could u make such a basic irresponsible mistake as to assume that our field of discussion was wherever YOU had thought laid, instead of finding out where it actually lay?
Finally, I have to say, I didn't call u a car moron. Someone else did, although he was probably echoing the sentiments of many others here.
