So now the eyes too used to bright lights.... so whenever they drive, must switch on High Beam in addition to driving lights and all must be HID.
damned! i hit the hump at 40 not too long ago too as it was raining overnight. same problem as u, lights reflected causing glareOriginally posted by storm_freaky13:Accord comes standard with HID. Civic got an option to have HID.
Actually I was wondering cos i was travelling down east coast service way yesterday night at arnd 10+ and it was raining... the water reflected the light and i could not see the lane markings and the hump because all the water reflected the street lamp's light and created glare... TMD hit the hump at 40km/h
was wondering if the authorities would consider installing cat's eye reflectors on the roads... those sunk in ones... maybe say along E'ways and busy roads.
why should they be banned? it would be completely unjustifiable if u ban them and then allow anything else larger than an SUV onto the road. And that includes your typical speeding at 100km/h dumper trucks, which if u drive along the stretch of expressway near the Bird Park, u will know what I mean.Originally posted by the Bear:actually, SUVs should be banned...
they pose hazards... every which way you look at it..
I agree....thats the same case in UK...govt didnt ask themselves y more ppl are getting SUVs...Originally posted by HENG@:why should they be banned? it would be completely unjustifiable if u ban them and then allow anything else larger than an SUV onto the road. anyways its always easy to pick the most visible target and attack it without much justification. if u're gonna tell me their fuel consumption sucks, so are the consumption of cars like EVOs and WRXs and they're all over the roads nowadays. Nissan Sunnys also fare quite badly. No matter which way u look at it, there is no reason to ban one really.
I tell ya, the trend is that more and more manufacturers will put xenon bulb kits and HID as stock fittings, and I dare say in 5 years time, any car above 1.6L is most likely to be so.Originally posted by HENG@:anyways if yr car comes with xenon as stock, then much as other road users hate u, its just too bad, its legal and they can't do nothing about it!![]()
anyways u wanna know the reason why more people are buying SUVs? well u put more and more car killing road humps on the road, well the only way u're gonna get around those roads without car damage is in a SUV. So u're basically making people get SUVs, and then u WONDER why more and more people are buying SUVs and then u decide to attack SUVs for no good reasons really. Its silly. They make SUVs sound deadlier than they are, but nobody says anything when another trailer or lorry or bus crushes someone to death. How many fatal SUV accidents have u seen in the papers? Point made.Originally posted by AE86tofu:I agree....thats the same case in UK...govt didnt ask themselves y more ppl are getting SUVs...
most cars nowadays have adjustable headlamp settings, and u can make yr headlights shine down, instead of straight ahead. Drivers really just have to be bothered to read the damn manual.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I tell ya, the trend is that more and more manufacturers will put xenon bulb kits and HID as stock fittings, and I dare say in 5 years time, any car above 1.6L is most likely to be so.
If the rest of the world has deemed it safer, I don't see why Singaporeans complain so much, well, if you are used to it, it won't seem like a big deal.
SUV's with glaring lights will be a problem, be it HID or regular halogen lamps. It's the drivers who play around with their headlight levelling, that causes this.Driver education is needed, because the SUV itself is not at fault.![]()
