There were two issues mention abt March 1.4L in Wheels Mag (2 page article) and Motoring half a page, featuring on specs, power, design and etc some time from May-Aug 2004. surprising some how these 2 copies were no where to be found. in my library of Car magazines. "missing in action "
Just a brief, of my 2cents worth of facts and experience:
1. Model BK-12, 1.4L 4AT
Engine: 16v DOHC
Performance: 0- 100 km/h @11.5 sec
Power to weight ratio: 98 hp / 975kg (9.94 kg per horse power pull at crank)
Personal Experiences and Remarks: (Light weight, the car has sufficient torque, pick up response is good, engine is quite when you start it, a few occasions I dun even release my engine was on and I restart it again when I warm up the car in the morning) Is a little under powered when you climb the Benjamin S. bridge with full load. Trotler is pretty responsive for light footed drivers bcos the car has good torque for lower gears. (Factory suspensions are soft, good for tight city driving and turning, tamper rebound too responsive), (ABS: I rate it at 7.5 /10 rating with stock specs on braking power, but different tyres will give your different performance braking on the road and also brake pads / calipers). Steering wheel is light with integrated Electronic PS, easy to perform parking and negotiate tight corners. Easy city driving car.
2. 2002 Europe Design car of the year.
Personal Experiences & Remarks: Interiors: Good head room, very roomy and reasonable passenger space, front driver leg room is roomy for me.
(2+2 adults acceptable, 2+3 is a little pack at the back ) (Jersey materials- seat covers (a little hot at times), bad marketing becos the car does not come with leathers) (Sound proofing-> noise slip through side doors and engine bay itself infront of the front driver area has thin layer of S.proofing from factory, the Roof: gets a little nosy when it is down pouring heavily) (There are wind nosy from the side above a certain speed and it is still acceptable)
Overall is not a bad car to drive, it all depends on yourself on what you look for when you choose a car “design of car”, “performance”, “specs”, Fuel C, comfort, practicality and price factor…….. Not forgetting reliability.
Just take 4 hatch back cars to compare and you will know what to do.
I did these comparisons before purchasing, Citron C3, Toyota IST, Toyota BB 1.3L and Opel Corsa with the Nissan March k12
Results: 1st choice March, 2nd Toyota BB, 3rd Citron C3.
Look at it the winner, it has both a euro design car + a Japanese engine.
How abt a Renault + NissanÂ… east meets west concept.
Nice outlook by Renault and pretty good Japanese engine to give the car a heart ! Lastly you pay the price of a Japanese car...

(confirm good for wet and dry weather... but not the quietest..... my fren infront of me "drififted" backside out when he went thru a puddle at 100kmh... mine didnt... he was using brand new yoko adspec db (the quiet kind?) -

Power difference: [975kg+40kg+driver(70kg)+fuel (30kg) + add ons (50kg)] = 1165 kg .... (1165/98 = 11.8 kg per horse pull ).
On factory specs [(975kg) + fuel (30kg) + driver (70kg) + 50kg = 1075kg
(1075/98 = 10.9 kg per horse pull ).
Any car with (<10kg per horse pull has power/torque)
Your Rims Calulations,
1. OEM retro rims 185/55/15 / Stock rims 175/60R15
Your speedometer will be off if you go with a tire/wheel combination of a different size than stock. This may or may not be an issue, depending on how much of a difference there is. You can calculate the percentage difference or use one of several calculators online.

Suzuki sports manual, I will put my money for that..! is mean !! You might want to compare head room and rear Boot space. The 1st batch of Suzuki swift 1.5 was facing some fuel pump issue and was recalled back that happen last year.

Hey guys, remember i had told you a couple of weeks ago about how my marchie was having those jerky vibrations? It happened again this morning as i came to a halt at a traffic junction - after travelling for about 20 mins with stops in between.
This time round, i got out of the car to have a look - the exhaust pipe area was vibrating much more violently than usual with "clink clink clink" sounds.Well, the guys from TC came down and had it driven to the workshop 'cos i wasn't sure about driving it down in that state.They did some ECC thingy and found no roots for that problem.The mechanic had the 4 ignition coils changed though, for fear of "dunno-what's misfiring".He also told me stuff about the marchie too -hmmm....dunno if i should mention here..maybe as private messages if you're interested...
Has anyone else had the same problem as mine?I'm driving with fear of "it" happening again leh...
(Anyway,side-track abit....i can't join you guys at the bbq in May - i'll be ohaiyo-ing in Tokyo, hehe. You guys have fun!) -

Facts !
Is the same (BK-12) 1.4 L enigine and AT4 gear box, TC did not bring in the CVT / HR-DE 1.5L engine. New face lift changes are on the Front grill from honey comb to the latio grill, Rear/Front bumpers, tail lights, front signal lights and some interios ! 3 new colors on top of the current models, could be more colors not confirm yet.

anyway wanna knoe where u guys send your cars for servicing.. jus want ppl here to give newbies like me more options to choose from when sending my car for servicing:
1) Merlin auto - $108 incl (wheel rotation, top up batt, coolant, change engine oil (shell helix ultra), change oil filter, wash and vacuum inside ) bare basics.... service ok... no high tech diagnosis tools used...

I got that few times before too.. it happened once when i started up the car in the morning, the whole car seems to be shaking..it sounded as though something is stuck in the exhuast pipe...but when checked at TC, they din't detect the problem.. -

yo red_marchie --> yeah, the mechanic did ask whether those vibrations / palpations had taken place in the morning..hmmm no leh..and they're unlike the vibrations after the engine / air-con's idle for a while too...haiiii, wonder what's the cause?? The mechanic attending to me also mentioned that it might be due to misfiring by the cylinders of (oops) i can't-remember-what / the brakes that may need re-surfacing soon --> dunno what that means leh...
anyway, he shared alittle about the car - which i'm sure many of us already know so here they are (nothing too dramatic la)...just another person's perspective...
1) It's a light car = very fuel-efficient
2) No major problems encountered by most owners,compared to other models
3) Much of the car is "recycled" (wonder why?) = Environment-friendly car then? :p
4) It's a light car = vibrations can be felt much more strongly
5) Small car but powerful engine
TC had serviced my marchie's throttle chamber, re-tuned the engine and replaced 4 ignition coils within the last 2 weeks after those vibrating moments --> anyone who can advise on what the "big picture" is? Does it sound as if the engine's "choked" or ?? i'm clueless abt the nuts and bolts of my marchie, sigh!
