Hi Gavinsg,
Sorry to hear about your plight.
I'm not sure if the insurance companies will pay in full or not. To speed up the payment process, you will maybe have to "encourage" the investigating police officer to close the case by declaring that the car cannot be found.
May I ask, please.....
- What brand/model/year was your car?
- Did you have any immobilisers or locks? If so, what type?
- Roughly how was the car stolen? You just parked it, came back and it wasn't there?
- Where in Desaru was the car stolen?

Anyway what's the made of yr car? MPV and 4x4 are common target there.dont forgot, lexus, merc and bmw are common target.
the new honda civic also common target, but i just cant figure out why i try to steal my dad car with just some tools, the whole car alarm go off. i try a tow-truck, the alarm also go off.

I heard from some of my fren working in MI.
Due to MI give a first yr full insurance cover including 1 to 1 exchange for stolen or damage car(beyond repair). There are 2 cases of abusing.
1 of the owner drove the TS into MY, report to My and SG police says he was rob at gun point and the robbers drove off the car. After he got the reports, he went to the Insurance company to process the recovery.
But that owner damn suay, 5 days before collection of the replacement car, MY police said they raided a workshop which was named as the illegal shop and found his TS engine with the registration number on it. On further interrogation, the MY guy says that it was the owner who sold off his car to him at a price of more than SGD$30,000.
The insurance company and MI immediately stop him and did not give him a new car. In the end he was sued and he can't even get back his old car. Confiscated as evidence and compounded.. lolz

you very suay, man!!!
my accord was also stolen in KL a few years back. i am sure by now you had made the police report and insurance claim.
you gotta be prepared for a few things:
1. my insurance company, N**C, firstly will not be bothered about going a lot of legwork. Be prepared to go to the Malaysia police station a few times to sort out paper work. you will need to sit out at least 6-8 weeks for the insureance co. to `finish' the investigation.
2. get the name of the investigating officer with you from the malaysia police. he will be your point of contact. pester them, otherwise they will take their sweet time.
for me, i only got 70% of my car value back. it took about 4months in total. the best part is the insurance company will `own' your car including the COE. it will be sold to the highest bidder over the internet. your car plate also gone. LTA will not allow u to register the new car in your old plate. siad due to theft, they may mistake u for the thief if they see the car.
it's a hassle, but it's too bad. good luck!
