please check your blind spot when you drive
and when you come out of filter lane, you HAVE to give way to cars on the main road. Not only give way, please keep the car within the dotted line and don't stop outside the line.

Dun hog the right most lane if you arent going fast enuff.
If you are inexperienced, avoid town area during weekends, or other conjested areas.
If you cant park properly, dun drive.
If you dun feel confident, dun drive esp on saturdays and be a road hazard to others.
Plan your route in advance. -

how about driving or riding every type of road vehicle first. really helps a lot but comes back to the same thing, most ppl only drives class 3 passenger car for their entire life....

I AGREE that checking blind spot is very important, not just for people who just pass, but also experienced drivers... Last Saturday, I manage to encounter 2 jokers who think they own the whole expressway. They just filter anyhow without checking and almost crashed onto my side. Checking blind spots is one which alot of drivers in singapore don't do often.It very dangerous especially when you are turning out from a slip road or coming out of a parking lot.There might be pedestrians walking or cyclists beside ur vehicle.
I think alot of drivers nowadays doesnt signal or giving very late signals when cutting lanes or turning, almost causing accidents.

i think you forgot to mention staying away from lane ONE if you don't intend to drive like 1.5 times of the indicated speed limit.
sometimes having jokers blocking in lane ONE is forcing behind drivers in rush to pull off many dangerous stuns.
my observation! -
one more thing. do remember when to use hazard light and signal light properly.
i realized a lot of ppl here are supposed to use hazard light bcos they are really stopping rather than turning. please don't mislead the driver behind you and cause those behind behind you to horn the innocent guy right behind you bcos of your misconduct! -
I have 1 suggestion :
It may smoothen the traffic if drivers continue to drive on 1st lane of expressway when entering, switch lanes only after someway into the expressway. sometimes drivers are eager to go into the rightside lanes causing a bottleneck slowing down the traffic.

The posted speed limit means speed is limited on that road or express way.
Therefore 60 kmph means not more than 60 kmph, but less.
Same for 90 kmph.
So if you drive at 91 kmph you have actually exceeded the speed limit for our express ways, and have committed a traffic offence.
Your point is that among those who exceed the speed limit, the one that have exceeded the most should not be impeded by the lesser one. In other words, give way to the greater offender!
On another point:
Of late, my observation is that there is an increasing numbers of incidents of cars entering the highway slowly from slip roads thereby causing those vehicles travelling on the extreme left lane to brake.
Those entering the highway should
(1) give way to those on a major road,
(2) give way to traffic approaching from the left,
(3) obey the give way sign.
These few drivers ignore all these and cut into highway traffic at 50-60 kmph. Forcing vehicles on the extreme left lane to brake to avoid a rear end colision with the entering car.
Motorcyclists cut in and zoom off, sports cars cut in and zoom off.
But these saloon cars cut in, as long as they have the space to do so, and is oblivous to the fact that they are impeding traffic that is going at 70-80 kmph.
They should learn to speed up along the shoulder within the dotted line and merge with the traffic, or simply give way and stop. Enter the highway when traffic from the left is clear. -

Do whatever your basic and final theory book says
to add on, gentle and steady acceleration, do not step too hard on accelerator, be gradual and try not to emergency brake unnecesarily. -

hey gotta ask something. had a few months break in b/w lessons due to ns.. when do u check blindspots?
I know that we have to check whenever we change lanes, turn left and right, u turns and turning into filter lanes, but what is the exact procedure?
eg, turning into filter lane, change blindspot before going in, gear down to gear 2, check blindspot then turn. Check right. If there is no car, check blindspot , check right then go. Is this correct?
and when turning left, after stopping infront of the stop line during red light, light turn green, check blindspot then go? or check bs, check right check bs then turn left? -

Dun chitchat while driving on expressway during jam, it will divert yr focus on the road, u need to jam break anytime.
Ppl drive slow beco they r talking to someone over the phone ,even with both hand on steering wheel.
If u drive fast, look far ahead , beyond the car infront.
Upslope and big bent(CTE to PIE, TPE to Yishun) Slow down cos u can't c the car infront, and if u r fast it will be very dangerous.
If overtake,change lane pls speed up, ppl will not wait for u.
Keep a look out car coming from behind, it may be TP tailgate u, or whatever.
Dun tailgate a lady driver, tailgate a rex still safer.
Road Filter and junction turning, dun eat to ppl lane
altho the road is big.
High Speed cornering, c those car bang tree and become 2 piece meal, car too light , engine over power and tyre lose grip at high tempurature(make sure tyre is not lousy 1). If u wan to try, make sure u know yr car limit. At high speed, a slight knock from anywhere yr car will fly, spin and loss control. -
hey guys need some tips for overtaking cars/ lanechanging during heavy traffic. the damn lesson, so hard to overtake when cars are refusing to buge! help?

My idea of tailgating is during peak hour traffic is very heavy, car distance is very near to each other and travelling speed is ard 30-50km . Not to tailgate when u can actually over take.
