Kia Sportage - Opinions pls

  Anyone own a Kia Sportage,
  
  I'm quite interested to buy a kia sportage. Can anyone share some view? is this model good? By the way, buy new or second car would be more feasible?

  If you really want an SUV, then Kia Sportage is the best deal. It is practically the same car as the Tucson but cheaper and better looking (in my opinion). There is of course the favorites - RAV4 and CRV. Maybe you can consider Daihatsu Terios or Suzuki SX4 or Vitara.

  ya I think so also, the other SUV is more too expensive.
  any idea how much will be the insurance for this car?

  don't buy kia.. i have a few experiences.
  
  cos the limos i take are kias (opirus, trajet, carnival) i can say i have first hand exp. ( not in SGP by the way)
  
  the kias, when its new its quite swanky and all that, but after a few months, everything will start to squeak. like when the driver step on accelerator and as i sink into my seat, it'll give a squeal. also, the power comes in jolts. its like ur car is moving okay.. then suddenly u feel this kick in of power, and the driver did not weighten his step on the accelerator. also got road/wind noise issue. if u can, try to get toyota or suzuki. or Ssangyong(altho a bit fugly)

  Kia sportage is value for money and most importantly, it is nice looking.
  
  Take a look at tucson.... the headlamps especially. *shake head*
  
  But for kia sportage, u've to choose the color wisely. I've seen some flops colors
  like maroon, dark blue etc... pure black will look nice on sportage.
  
  I encourage u to go for sportage, and not be affected by those rumors that it'll squeak etc... cos i've had even worse experience with M.I.T toyotas. for instance, the steering wheel literally lost its color thru usage, the driver door cannot close tight etc.

  I think go for something with higher gas mileage... the price of gas will kill you in the long run.

  btw, 2.0litre SUV (including sportage) normally have gas mileage between 9-10. its normal.
  
  kia sportage has CVVT. it helps a little.

  hi guys thanks for all the feedback.
  
  Finally I got my sportage. Overall, I think is really value for money and the feeling of driving it is good. It does come on many luxury items and also I think this car had alot of safety in it. In terms of fuel consumption. I not so sure yet. Will try for a month to define whether is saving or not

  I don't drive a Sportage. The sad truth about Korean car is their engine performance.
  
  They are at least 1 to 2 generation back compare to Japanese. In terms of engine refinement and fuel consumption, they are 3 generations back.
  
  However, Sportage do have a more handsome look compare to Tucson.

  Or buy a 2nd hand Sportage lah...can get it very cheap cos their resale value sucks!

  Btw, if you can hit 7km/ltr, with 2 adults n 2 children, combine city and highway driving (50%-50%), congratulations...very good already! whahaha!

  i think this thread deserves no destructive comments to the TS. congrats on buying ur Sportage. Whatever it is, enjoy ur ride.
  
  p.s to rojak... pls come to ur senses. nowadays korean cars are becoming popular amongst road users. not only they are cheap, they are also capable of challenging car standards from japan and europe. not all cars are bad. even jap cars have their own problems.
  
  btw, i wont be surprise if the china cars become more popular later on. give them about 2-3 yrs.
  
  btw do you guys know that a sunny and cerato share the same FC? about 12-13km/l... both are auto mine u...
