it has a good chance to be a night race but the safety measure is not approach by FI, then it will be back to day race -

Alrighty then. The paperwork is done, so now is the groundwork. Its going to take a lot of time, money and manpower to make sure that the GP gets done right. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that everything goes to plan..

Great news but having it at night JUST to cater to the European viewers is really unnecessary. If Malaysia can hold her GP in the broad daylight, why can't we? Are we trying to be special here? If we need almost daylight lighting for the race, might as well hold the race in the day?! The risk is too great for drivers and the audience alike.

So... how do you want to re-route traffic around the area?? Malaysia has a track... ours is the public roads... Try rerouting traffic at 5-6pm in the evening when everyone leaves the office... the marina bay area is already jammed enough as it is with people from suntec and the nearby areas all leaving via the ECP... if you've ever been there during those times, or tried to take a cab home from suntec during those times, you'll know what I mean...Originally posted by lem0nade:Great news but having it at night JUST to cater to the European viewers is really unnecessary. Its not only to cater to european viewers... its to cater to the locals as well... -
If I'm not wrong (correct me if I am), a GP race only starts at 1pm local time and a typical one will last between 1.5 to 2hrs barring any bizzare accidents. So the race will at most end at about 3 to 4 pm. And audience dun leave immediately, they'll always linger around for the podium celebration etc. And besides this, the actual race is held on a Sunday, so wat office crowd are you referring to? If you're talking about family outings, I'm sure they'll avoid the town area unless they're there explicitly for the race, fairs etc. Does the recent IMF ring a bell?
