What petrol do you pump?

SPC attendants are not friendly, is that what you mean?
in the east I can only find the one in Bedok for SPC which is quite a distance as I stay in Tampines...so the most accessible station is Shell near St Hilda's...
as for me, I'm driving manual so usually put neutral when going downslope...no need to accelerate to take advantage of gravity

What I do is this, when traveling at the highway, I will try to be in neutral gear as much as possible.
I accelerate and then "free gear" (go into neutral) and let the car just cruise on its own momentum. You will be surprised. When you go into neutral, the car accelerate further before slowing down.
If you are driving auto trans... count to three when you put back to D (drive) before you step on the accelerator pedal (3 secs for gears to engage).
Of course you will take more time to reach your destination... but if there is a jam, the time difference is the same and you save petrol...
oh... practice first and get used to it before you do that for real...

oh and another reason why shell sucks and why i'm switching to caltex.
firstly, i always pump 98.
looking at both loyalty programmes right,
shell: 1 litre = 1 point
caltex: $1 = 1 point
then u compare both petrols..
shell: 1350 points = $40 worth of free petrol
caltex: 1200 points = $40 worth of free petrol
if u see the above still dont understand, here's why:
If i pump caltex 98 everytime, after spending $1,200 on caltex 98, i get $40 worth of petrol free..
however, shell 98 after 5% discount is $1.748 per litre, to get back $40 worth of petrol free, i must pump 1,350 litres, which is $2359.80, THEN i get $40 worth of petrol free..
at caltex, i pump $2400, i get $80 worth of petrol free liao!!
like WTH? shell think i dumb is it? RAWR!
talk about value for money..
note: the above does not include any discounts for credit cards, only station discount of 5% (standard for all except SPC)
so i say, TO HELL WITH SHELL.

oh but another thing is that that calculation is also a bit outdated, now caltex is $1.25 for 1 point. but even then, you still save more money then going to shell unless u pump 92 only then i dunno the calculation
but yea, stop pumping shell.. i also didnt realise the big impact when they changed their rewards scheme to 1 litre 1 point.. onli after i did calculations then i realised -

wait pple "cruise" to their death....
disengaging the transmission from the engine at highways speeds is very dangerous...
and constantly changing ur auto gearbox from N to D and vice versa especially while the car is moving will wear out your gearbox faster.... -

Shell 95 on Altis 42L 545km 13km/L on 16"rim.
Once use SS filter which is good in pick up, but later took out.
Highway 70%, when hit ard 65-75km/h release acc for the overdrive to kick in so to save so fuel.
Expressway up slope turn off A/C with fan still blowing to reduce power output to A/C as the cold can last about 5min b4 u turn on again. The temp is set at max coldness to reduce to auto cut out and cut in of A/C.
Pick up alway slow as it is 16" but at high speed cornering is very stable(about60-70km filter to expressway).
If always drive around 90-100km/h is still ok, but 100km/h above consume alot of fuel.
Light footer for pickup make alot of diff in FC -

one very good way to conserve petrol is to turn off the aircon during driving...
by the way, which fuel company's fuel is the cheapest now? is Grade 92 the cheapest? -
but mine on aircon or off also same fc. mine is kelisa, 15km/litre to 16 km/litre. if hard foot always rev to rpm 3 or 4 it is ard 14 to 13km/litre regardless aircon or no aircon. the different is onli the power. power lag when aircon on. aircon off, damn powerful. win a drag wif latio. 1.5 loses to a 1litre car.
