i looked into the showroom... remembering the claims of sporty, nice looking whatnot...
then i saw the rear drum brakes.... again...
i know.. i can hear u guys say rear drum brakes enough liaoz.... but if mistubushi is gonna make the lancer more upmarket... which i suspect it is...to play catch up to civic.... then this simply wun suffice

erm.... actually no... drum brakes are cheaper to manufacture... but is harder and more expensive to maintain than disc brakes.....
remember there was a time when they did a massive changing of drum brakes to disc brakes for mz3...

anyway, i suspect the theory of drums r easier to maintain is an act of propoganda to lead the consumers to believe so, thus they can carry on shaving their cost by incorporating drums on their so called upmarket car. see the nissan slyphy (is that how they spelt it?) and the most shocking is.. SS1!
goodness
*sigh*

CVT is not so hot. But the 2.0 GT comes with 4 discs (the others are disc and drums). 2.0 GT also uses the paddle shift. So, if you hate the CVT you can try the paddle shift and think you are in a porsche or bmw. ;-)
btw, i use to own the bmw 520i (before the current look) and is a dream car but the one i was given was a lemon and it was in and out of Kampong Arang. Lost 100K on that one. Swear not to be so wasteful and bought a Cefiro.

well actually i'm not too sure yet
but what
i know is, a CVT mated to a not-so-powerful engine really not a
sporty combination. Hope the new Lancer's engine has enough punch
to produce a good enough drive experience while being driven hard

i would hazard a guess that its the latter

IMHO, the best auto trans that you can get @ the Lancer EX price range is probably the 5AT in the Civic FD. Personally not a big fan of CVTs just yet.

Have seen the cars.
The paddel shifter is also available on the sport version.
EX series
1.5 AT & MT
Sports series
1.5 AT & MT
2.0 AT & MT
GT series
2.0 CVT & MT
Dunno whether the SE got hao siao or not. He says sports series 2.0 is only 146bhp but 2.0 GT is 155bhp.
But sianzzz... the sun roof is optional & need to top up $$
For the 2.0 GT cvt around $80k still ok lar..with the package it have. Such as rockford 7pc system, 18", 4 disc brakes, high spoiler ( Its damn short ), full leather uphoist and body kits and HID.
So far feedback is that the low end is below satisfaction but once hit to mid, it can really move. Next week maybe go test drive le.. test liao den say ba.
