  You talking 2nd hand Yaris? Yaris is already "yesterday" news lo. Although I personally think the new Vios looks ugly enough to fight with Matrix/City for most ugly Jap/Kor car dishonour, it should be a good buy if the reviews are anything to be believed.
  
  Actually depends on what you want lah. Currently I'm driving a manual Mitsubishi Lancer which I think is not too bad with decent FC, around 8-8.5L/100km and the price now is quite cheap. I suggest that maybe you'd want to drive a manual car for a newbie. It is more difficult to drive but after 1-2 years max of exp driving manual, you should have no fear in driving any class 3 vehicle liao. Will make you a more competent driver, if you drive properly lah of course.
  
  Think the cars available for you would be Kia Rio/Picanto, Hyundai Verna/Getz, Honda City, Mitsubishi Lancer, Toyota Vios, Nissan Sunny (still in production?) and maybe Subaru Imprezza.

  The manual Sunny should be still ok. Just don't buy auto version. That one's an oil drinker.

  Why looking for 2nd hand car? When it don't give any warranty on parts and free labour servicing etc. Insurance may not be cheap too.
  
  Can go for a new car that is within your budget..look for promotion..who knows you may get good stuff..

  Actually latio consumption is still ok compare to sunny, dun get mistaken on nissan car, only sunny make their name worse other than that their ther car models is quite ok, latio give a luxurious interiorr feel, their auto transmission is a bit different from other normal auto car, when u ram the rev go up and as it change gear the rev will continue to zoom up not like others will go down to change gear, perhaps if u really interested try for a test drive. i can arrange.

  latio looks fugly. 2nd hand car.. hmm.. look at sgcarmart lo.. alot of cars for u to choose from.. sunny is luxuries.. the newer model has quite good FC alrdy.. cheap, made in jap, quite torquey and good quality construction.

  pls dun curse me.. Matrix is the ugliest car ever seen in singapore.. it has all lines and parts not get along at all parts of the car. like different parts from different cars put together.
  
  eg.. front wheel arch has like children's scissor cut, far back side windows and main windows are totally different stylings, looks like doors from different car, short and high, etc.. etc..

  Yup i cannot agree more. It was the ugliest car, in my opinion, before the Hafei Minz came to town. However, at least Minz owners can still say they need to ferry a lot of passengers. So all in all, Matrix is still suckier.

  Congrats on your new license. I just had my license exactly 6 days back and had my driving license sent to me today.
  
  I went to test drive Vios and Latio yesterday and these are my comments.
  
  Vios: The car has good acceleration and is very light. That helps in FC, however, too light for my comfort as I did a fast turn (for a try) and my passengers behind (mum, brother n gf) felt they were flying. The engine sounds a little loud from the inside of the car.
  
  Latio: The exterior doesn't look appealing, however the premium version of latio caused me to drool with their luring interior. The seats are exremely comfortable and I like the 'hand'brake which is at the acceleration/brake padels. It removes the usual brake which is by your left. Similar design vis-a-vis Mercedes/ Lexus etc. The car is not so light and when I made a similar sharp turn, my passengers felt okay. I cannot comment on the FC as I'd not physically witnessed it. However, I was told that it is between 13 - 15 on road.
  
  My conclusion, if you were to get Nissan Latio, go for the Premium version. An additional $3000 is worth the money as it uses CVT, which makes your automatic gear shifting smoother.
  
  My 2 cents worth.
  
  By the way, I'd booked for a Latio Premium. Just note that the insurance is pretty high. I paid $2,900 for the insurance at the age of 25.
