Laser cameras catches 3,400 motorists speeding on KPE

Already 3,400 motorists were CAUGHT SPEEDING in the first SIX days of opening. Of this lot, 45 EXCEEDED 110kmh (think kuku ones who didn't see news abt speed cameras being installed in KPE) n got one kuku somemore drive OVER 140kmh!!! Fyi, the speed limit is 70kmh.
The 45 who exceeded the speed limit will be HAULED to court. If convicted, faces FINES of up to $1000 or JAIL term of 3 months. They will also be given between 12 and 24 DEMERIT points.
And btw, the laser cameras NEVER run out of film...
I personally think they should have placed a sign Speed Camera to WARN ppl NOT to speed, that's the idea right? The motive behind is to inform drivers not to speed, it's not about FINING n generating HUGE amounts of income.
I'm beginning to wonder if the KPE is for easing traffic woes or yet another money spinder... After which they will place a ERP gantry n start collecting? Here we go again!

Yah 70 km/h is just too slow man. Sometimes really these people who set these speed limits I think don't drive one or what. Probably give them a manual car they also won't be able to get it out of the carpark lot.

Due to safety reasons and short distance, it is still ok.
Drove thru there today from ECP to PIE. Quite fast and definately quiter than CTE underpass.
So many signs reading 70km/h & Speed camera ahead warning.
The guy who drove 140... is he trying to be the No.1 to kenna chop license from KPE?? -
So there are signs warning of speed cameras... den how come so many ppl kenna caught???
Anyway nowadays, lorries, pickups, vans, coaches all drive faster den 70kmh alre.. wat's 70kmh to cars owners...

They should have placed "Cameras never run out of film 24/7" after the "Speed Camera Ahead" sign. The 140kph wan is out to kill lor!! 70kph is ok if traffic is med/high...

hey just to be fair, anyone here claiming that 70kmh limit is ridiculous in KPE, pls read up on the mont blanc tunnel accident (also known as the "mont blanc disaster" in history books)
the LTA even sent a team of their staff to visit the actual tunnel in europe before comissioning the KPE to be built. if u read about what happened in the tunnel or watched the documentary on NGC/Discovery about the disaster, i guess the speed limit on the KPE is reasonable.
did u also noe there are barriers (like the carpark one at the entrance n exit) that the lta will drop down to CLOSE the kpe entrances in a severe jam / accident?
so pls dun road hog n cause accidents! if not nobody can use the KPE! (barriers are there also to prevent a repeat of the mont blanc disaster) -

the KPE is built something like the mont black tunnel. where they have a escape route just for passengers.
anyway, noticed the speed camp in KPE is 2 huge boxes at the top. different from the usual speed box. -
oh and if the barrier at the entrance to kpe drops and u already went past it and see it closing down behind you, i suggest you STOP n dont go in the tunnel -.- in the mont blanc disaster, the sirens etc. at the toll entrance went off and 5 vehicles were already past the toll gates, of the 5, only 3 stopped their vehicles. 2 vehicles ignored the sirens and the entrance closure and continued into the tunnel. no one knows if they eventually died or survived the inferno.

yup and the LTA spaced the emergency exits close to each other for faster evacuation..
i nv see the speed boxes leh.. i'm still waiting for the summon/advisory damn worried leh =( -
sounds scary.. my question, in the mont blanc disaster. could a freight carrying highly flammable materials burst into flames just like that should the driver drive at a very high speed?

Bottom line: please drive safely.
Better to slowly get to the end of the tunnel in your own car than to quickly get to the hospital in an ambulance. -
slowly the news would spreaad and more china cars will start to hog the roads there

....how come I did not know about the speed traps until i read this thread? crapz... they spent millions, I guess printing brochures and putting up posters and even making a music album and they cannot make clear to everyone that they have speed traps int he KPE?
... was it to prevent speeding or make money? -
