Thailand has become the regional production hub for all Toyota car models for export to Asean for both fully built units and assembly kits, according to Toyota Motor Thailand Co president Mitsuhiro Sonoda. The models include the Camry, Corolla Altis, Vios, Yaris and Wish compact multi-purpose vehicles (MPV).
With the all-new Corolla Altis sedan launched yesterday,Toyota Has positioned the car as a key product from its Thai plant for export to Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Production in all three countries has already ceased. Before the Corolla Altis, only Toyota’s Hilux Vigo pickup trucks in Thailand were exported globally.
Fully-built units would also be exported to Singapore and Brunei. Toyota would also continue to ship assembly kits for the new Corolla to markets with high tax barriers.
Mr Sonoda said 50% of the Corolla Altis units made in Thailand would be set aside for exports, expected to start in July.
The new development was in line with Toyota’s policy of strengthening Toyota products in the region with certain parts being imported from Asean countries.
The new Corolla Altis uses 83% local content with a small portion from Asean and Japan.
Mr Sonoda said Thailand was also selected as the regional production hub for Camry, Vios and Yaris sedans and Wish compact MPVs for export to Asean. They were exported in the form of fully built units and assembly kits.
Toyota Motor Corporation’s chief engineer, Yasuyuki Kawamoto, said the Corrolla Altis was developed with concern for passenger health and the environment. Toyota used interior parts with low volatile organic compounds (VOC) for new Altis production in Thailand which could reduce VOCs by more than 80% from the previous model.

the 3M car mat, touch screen dvd....
It's very ex, my friend just bought a Lancer EX 2.0 sport on the Feb only 63k.
In Australia, thankfully our Toyota Corollas are made in Japan. Unlike the Thai made Honda Civics.
I'm tossing up between a Corolla and Mazda 3. I actually prefer the Mazda 3 - but - new Mazda 3 will come out next year, so if I buy Mazda 3 now, next year will already be non-current model. Whereas the Corolla will be the current model for long time to come.
By the way - do you have the Corolla in hatch form in Singapore? In Australia we have choice of sedan or hatch. Hatch looks like this:

Nope, no Corolla hatches in Singapore. Most Asian countries prefer sedan over hatchbacks. And maybe you can take a look at Ford Focus too. Great driving dynamics.
I heard from friend tt the new Mit engine is made in Korea or made by Hyundai.. I forgot..
Drove it personally.. I think it sucks.. Interior is a bit nice onli.. But i gonna admit tt it's quite spacious inside..

The intake and exhaust manifolds, the cylinder head’s intake and exhaust ports, and other elements related to engine tuning were independently developed by Mitsubishi.
Should still be a good engine![]()
But then the sound when i tried to rev.. Kinda weak..
Toyota Corolla Altis CNG Version This Year
Submitted by peter on 19 March, 2008 - 13:45. Alternative Fuel New Cars Toyota
TMT
has confirmed that it will have a bi-fuel version of the 10th
generation Corolla Altis by the end of 2008. The car will retain its
regular E20 fuel system and tank, adding to it a CNG (compressed
natural gas) system with a 70-litre tank in the boot. As with current
Taxi conversions this will result in about 1/4 - 1/3 reduction in boot
space.
The tank will also increase the weight of the vehicle
by around 100 kg, and Toyota will replace the rear coils springs with
stiffer coils from the Corolla wagon which is around the same weight as
this CNG version.
Although this car is primarily targeting
the local taxi market, it seems that there would be logic behind offing
a regular consumer version also, and even exporting to other markets
such as Singapore.
The CNG Altis will be using the 1.6 litre
engine. The gas version of the 9th generation Corolla being used as
taxis in Thailand is badged "Limo" and is quite a cut down version,
sitting below the "J" base model in terms of specification. If the new
CNG Altis is to attract customers from outside the taxi industry, it
will really need to be offered with a higher trim level.
With
the global oil price sitting well above $100 a barrel ($108 at time of
writing), and showing no signs of dropping off, it makes sense for
Thailand to make a move away from oil. Gas is the obvious choice given
that Thailand has a local supply. Gasohol and E20 might be cheaper that
regular petrol, but when gas is just 8.50 a kg, and LPG is THB 10.15 a
litre compared to THB 28.59 for the much hyped E20, the price
difference card doesn't really work in the favour of E20.
