Too much emphasis is placed on 0 - 60 mph statistics as it represents only one element of a larger overall picture of what a vehicle is capable of achieving dynamically. With all of the hype surrounding Nissan's new GT-R hyper sports car, the vehicle is an instant legend and Edmund's Inside Line helps solidify that reputation with an exclusive full test drive. Despite attempts at objectivity, the petrol-head junkie within can't help but reinsert eyeballs back into sockets as Inside Line reports 0 - 60 mph in a pavement cracking 3.3 seconds and quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at 120.9 mph.
Using a privately owned Japanese spec GT-R at an airstrip outside of Tokyo, the 3.8-liter turbo V6 engine produces an unofficial minimum of 473 hp and 434 ft/lbs of torque. Inside Line reports that they achieved these numbers by engaging the GT-R's launch control feature that enabled a spine crushing launch through the GT-R's all-wheel-drive system despite low-grip surface. Without the launch control, the GT-R still produced an amazing 0 – 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and quarter-mile in 12.6 seconds at 120.6 mph.
Inside Line asserts this is the quickest car they've ever tested. Compared to the Dodge Viper, Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo Tiptronic, the GT-R gets bragging rights. With a price tag of 70,000 USD the GT-R rewrites the rules for all hyper cars. -

wa lik tat dangerous leh. i don mean easy accident. i mean easy get fine. some traffic light quite far ma. then u 2.5 sec hit lik 80km/h, the road onli 60, u kena fine. worst still if u hit 3.3sec to 100, ur license take away liao

they do the straight line tests flat out... obviously on normal roads and in normal driving situations, you DON'T go flat out at the traffic lights...

0-100 is not everything. how often do u have the opportunity to floor the throttle?

Wat if u beat the RL camera at full speed, will the carema catch the lumber or just a flash?

You can control the peddle and if it has the capability to 3.3s reach 100km it shud have better brake, preferably 3.3s 100km-20km. I believe most car in singapore are also mod to not accelerate that fast. how does it handle on a twisty road? how does it corner?
a dragster does 402m in 5 seconds.. but can't be steered -
Apparently it got 7:38 at Nubrgring in semi-wet conditions, beating cars like the GT3, SLR and Veyron.
Looks like its a real winner. Honda's new NSX has some major competition to contend with

My uncle was telling me that when he got his Porsche Carrera 4S, they offered him a performance brake. It can stop the car going at 100km/h in 2sec flat and what amazes me...is that it costs a whopping SGD$60k!

If you're spending on a C4S, the brakes are nothing.

i suppose the upgrade is not necessary, unless u have $$$ to spare ( which i suppose is not a problem ).
carbon ceramic brakes can only show its prowess on a track. -

but of course, I am not denying that some speed to 150 or more and try their luck. anyways, can buy luxury car = got enough for fines.
every second, their engines burn more petrol . even when they just stopping at red lights. even when they rolling at 60km/hr - 90km/hr only on the city streets.
power cars. overkill ? what the heck, they got cash. burn baby burn. got cash should burn it away.
technically speaking, assuming my layman understanding is correct about how these cars burn petrol, these cars are not as efficient in burning petrol than smaller normal cars even when running at the same speed!! . quite sad... -
