again, by comparing top speeds, u have missed the point completely. if a hafei minyi can reach 110 kmh in 14 secs, and a lancer reaches 110 kmh in 11 secs, isn't it obvious that the lancer is the 1st one to reach THAT speed?
likewise, if an sti takes 5.2 secs to reach 100 kmh and an evo takes 5.0 secs to reach 100 kmh, isn't it obvious that the evo is the faster car? wads the point in comparing top speed? -
You could never achieve top speed in a built up environmet like S'pore. So if i am buying a car, top speed is of little concern. Unless you are driving some pathetic china car who's top speed is below 130kph, then good luck in achieving that speed.
Either the car 'floats' off the road or the car will turn turtle upon entering a corner.
Simply put, those who buy cars in S'pore that acheives acceleration under 7 seconds is either showing off or has too much money to spend. Maybe they travel to racetracks in m'sia. I don't see any point of buying fast cars here. Unless you are rich, then i have no say in what you purchase. Or you think that your image is more important than praticallity.
Don't get the wrong idea, I'm not critisizing people who buy these cars but really, a normal Honda Civic is more than enough. -

Buying a fast car doesn't mean you must use it's potential..most people who buy fast cars in SG is only to show off..it's merely a symbol of wealth.. -
Haha, you all got me wrong (as i have expected) Firstly, I am an avid car lover. It is always good to have numerous exotic and fast cars. That i have to agree. But those who do not have the financial means to own such a car yet. Please to not throw away your personal life. Unless you are in germany of course, where the Authobahn and Nurburgring will be your playground.

aiya lets put it these way. if u got a family of 6. buy a family car lik honda stream , toyota wish or even a hafei. if u hav a family of 5 u can buy a honda civic, geely not bad at least can put 5 ppl. singapore nia, u think malaysia? so china car in singapore can be quite safe unless u drive recklessly or ppl bang on to u at high speed. or any saloon car can liao. cheap beta. can spend all ur money on the petrol right? if u hav onli a family of 4, y not a kelisa, mitsubishi i , getz, or a chery QQ? 4 nia, take the least CC 1. right? save petrol. ppl onli drive 1 trip. ur 1 ar, 3 trip also no PROB. u got loads of money go buy a kelisa lor. or a getz. or picanto. use ur money full modification ur car. i bet even u mod ur engine the FC even lower than a EVO or WRX. and PLUS POINT, mod interior! full mod. let calculate, a EVO cost let say ard 100k. a picanto let say 50k ( alot hor? ) use ur juz 30k to mod ur interior. SURE BEST LIK HELL. imagine ur picanto wif 4 massage chair, 4 LCD TV, 4 playstation 3 for each TV, full 7.1 surrounding speaker,u wan wat got wat. i think u staying in ur car than ur home liao. speed wat for? u need tat to reach ur destination faster? with all those massage chair all tat, i am sure u wan to drive slower so can reach ur destination slower can sit the car longer. right? evo beside u, wa the exhaust sound power. but urs 1 leh? If anyone here watches Top Gear, there is a race through London with 4 modes of transport. Namely, A Mercedese GL500, a carbon fibre bike, public transport (train and bus) and a boat, yes a boat through Thames river.
Guess who won? 1st place - the bike. 2nd - the boat, 3rd - public transport, while last came in the car.
This shows that we may not need a car to travel fast though a city. So save money and buy a bike! Cheap and green. No road tax, insurance, petrol, no parking fees and very low maintainence. Go green, go bike!
Yes, long distance, car is the way to go (obviously)
Oh ya, just in case you don't know which bike I'm refering to, it is the bicycle.
