Chinese man crashes Mercedes S350, vows to only drive

Chinese-built cars.
Car accidents inspiring bouts of nationalism aren't all that new. However, this could be the shakiest case of it that we've heard of recently. Wang Zhan, the Chinese owner of a Mercedes S350, rear-ended a DongFeng van. In spite of the rather severe damage done to the car, the airbags didn't deploy, and Zhan and his daughter had to make a trip to the hospital. When the medication wore off, Mr. Zhan knew immediately what he needed to do: hold a press conference and announce that he'd only be buying Chinese goods for the rest of his life.
Based on the damage, it looks like he was doing some serious speed when it happened, and it's clear that the airbags should have deployed. Mr. Zhan said Mercedes never gave him a satisfactory answer as to why they didn't. Still, it happens, and we can imagine a number of other vehicles in which such an accident would have prevented Zhan from doing anything else, ever -- like, oh, some models from China. And we wouldn't mind knowing how the DongFeng van fared. Yet while we all know this never would have happened in a Geely, we might recommend that Zhan perhaps try something from Sweden first...

For your info, Cherry QQ fared rather well in the NCAP crash test. Don't believe it, here's the site. It's rather shocking that china made cars passed the test. If i haven't seen this clip, I would not believe it passed the test too.Originally posted by BadzMaro:Chinese-built cars.

rmb chery cant go that fast. so i think he end up might be same as the mercs since the mercs nv deploy the airbag. worst still chery if u get accident u die str away without even feelin the pain leh . but imagine u in tat mercs, u accident , no airbag, u hit the steering wheel and ur hand break because u holdin on to the steering wheel. u become disable for ur rest of ur life or even become retarded because of the impact u hit ur head. i think u might as well choose to die. am i right? kelisa is assemble in malaysia doesn't mean it is built in malaysia. they using japan engine too. in sg most jap car are assemble in thailand and they are using japan engine. is the same as kelisa. y don u call those car built thailand? if u wan compare compare wif proton which is exactly make from malaysia. i don agree jap cars is safe from acciden anyway. it can easily b crushed into a roti prata or wrap ard the trees. go watch more news or read more newspaper. and mayb the safest is german or america car lik the renault. thier bumper is actually to bump another car without damagin so tat they can squeeze into a tight space to park. my fren drove a renault kangoo and accidently collide to a wall behind. no scratches or damage at all
but the engine cannot make it. it keep broken down after 5 years.. and in additional, most high-end car doesnt mean it is really safe. y do i say this is because such car lik camry assemble in thailand rather than japan, the built quality may not be the same as the jap industries. thus, those crash cap might not be the same to the situation when u meet a real accident. so tat might be an explanation y some cars don gives prob thruout the 10 years but some car gives prob within 1 day. 
anyway juz keep in mind not to speed but drive safely. juz 1 mistake can cost a precious life or spoilt the rest of tat person life. u can hav the money to buy any car, but life is wat makes your money worthless. -

Mad!!! If you can survive a crash like this without airbags then it goes to show the car is rather safe. Of course if you are talking abt REAL safety, then get a Volvo...Try using a China-made car and crash it like this crash and see what is the outcome... Can protest somemore...

Or also you can say the Merc is so smart, it knew that it was gonna hit a China car, thus not deploy the airbags because, the driver wasn't suppose to drive anywhere near any China car so, it wanted to teach him a lesson. -

he rear-ended a van ... and yet the front looks relatively undamaged, but the hood and roof looks pretty torn up ...

the front end of the car looks almost undamaged, and yet the hood looks to be in very bad shape ... doesn't look like what one'd expect from a front end collusion eh ...
