Passed by a dead cat in the neighbourhood several afternoons ago. A puddle of insides scattered next to the body.
I'm wondering whether you guys have had accidents running over stray animals on the road.
What did you do afterwards? Sped off rightaway or stopped and moved the animal to the side of the road (expressways not considered).
Hmmm.. prevention better than cure?
Once i was driving near eunos when a cat ran pass, i braked, checked clear and steered in the opposite direction of where the cat was heading to lor. Didnt feel that i ran over anything so i assume the cat was safe.
I think accidents do happen. I've seen a stray cat dash across a car park after being hit by a vehicle before dying at the side.
If I ran an animal down, I think the last thing I could do is just leave it in the middle of the road to be run over by more motorists.
At least have the decency to move him or her to the side of the road.
If they are injured, call SPCA.
it cost me $4k to avoid hitting a stray dog that dashed across the road..
my rims were damaged.. had to buy new ones.
my oil sum had to be replaced.. and had to replace my suspension..
swerved and landed up on a kerb at marina south..
was late night 2am some more..
-coos sadly-
If you hit and run an animal on the road, is it a crime?

Frankly,if you would avoid hitting any stray animals if you could have - as it also cause damage to your car !!!
Whether to stop .. will have to depend on situation - which allow you to safetly stop the car without causing danger to other drivers ?
i remember in melbourne, we swerved to miss a possum on the road just to have the car behind smash into the poor thing...
yesterday, on my bike i accidently hit a cat.. i can feel that i hit it terribly bad.. u know, u can feel the bike tyre ran over its body.. abuthen..
bloody hell its still running. walao.. im glad it perhaps didnt get injured that bad. The cat so weird.. i was avoiding it then suddenly it ran to me.. walao.. really wan suicide

money can get back lo, but 4k even though much, still can get back no time, well if u feel glad at least u didnt smash the dogs head. saving another doggie from car accident
Sometime it can't be helped, especially when there is another vehicle adjacent slightly infront, and the animal missed that vehicle only to be hit by you travelling behind.
But on a straight and clear road, accidents with animals can be avoided, the driver really heed ot look ahead at all times. Most drivers just half glance the road infront and just go ahead. These drivers you can see always get caught behind a stationary lorry or bus because they don't look out well ahead enough to take evasive action. Usually they fail to see the animal and even pedestrians, at the side of the road about to cross until too late. Even then they horn first instead of lightly braking. Sometimes slowing down slightly will give sufficient time for the animal to run across. But they must be spotted first well ahead and anticipated by a "what if" that animal, or pedestrian, suddenly run across.
It may be only a cat or a dog, but the feeling is not good. For most people anyway. Some people will feel heng ah, it is a cat, and not a pedestrian.
I had to run across a few gophers during my time in Canada .....
it may sound cruel, but I think the golden rule is never to brake suddenly or swerve for any stray cats or dogs ...
in saving the life of that animal, you may jolly well end your own or other people's lives .....
we have a bunch of kittens running around.
the commander gave us the green light to flatten the buggers if they pop out and we're unable to stop and he rather flatten the kitten than ask us to siam the bugger and roll down the hill.
but he also said "who flattens it, will have to clean it up" ![]()

crime or no crime, the conscience will still be in you ![]()
Yep but most are just responding in theory.
I don't think it's a crime if it's accidental. If you run over them deliberately then you're prolly just psychotic.
Fatum, in your case, hit and run? Did you pull over afterwards?
i tried to crash into some birds flying across my path last time.. always accelerate whenever they flew past.. but never could hit them...
ok dude why would you do that deliberately?
dunno.. think i wanted to experience how pilots had the chance to see birds flying into their windscreens...
right. that's just warped. don't do it again. animals have feelings one hor. they can experience pain in their nervous system one hor.
last time ns mah... not my car.. so next time dun lend me car.. i might do stupid things
my dad hit a monkey on pie before.. never stop just continue driving
