    • The usual thing ppl do is just change lanes, let the moron pass. Or u could invest in a sign..."You Tailgate, I Jam Brake."   biggrin.png

    • i usually let the moron pass .. but i find this ineffective .. cos they are going to be encouraged to intimidate other road users.

oddly enough , i find that the people who do this are usually heavily modified cars ( which i understand their need for speed )  and people who drive really flashy cars. Cammon ... now , you got so rich and now you can intimidate other road users into submission by tail gating ... sheeesh

Breaking is not an option , cos that's just as dangerous ... mmmm.. any other suggestion?

    • Jam brake dangerous. If your car's seats aren't designed for whiplash protection, don't do it. icon_lol.gif

This is what my dad always do. When someone tailgates him, he reduces his speed to 60kmh. Nothing illegal. Not really considered road hogging, and yet can make the tailgater's blood boil. icon_lol.gif

    • drive slowly..... hmm..

let's take an example. If we're on the expressway , its moderate traffic. You're on the 1st lane ( fastest ) of 4 lanes and you're doing 95kmh in a 90kmh zone. If the guys comes up to your butt , how slow will you go ?

I think driving slowly to piss the tailgater off can only be done off the expressway. icon_lol.gif

80... cos the max allowed speed was 90... and tap brake regularly...

Anyway, people always give way for me even if I am like at least 2 car length apart... maybe too many of these tailgaters that people start to give way when they spot a car behind...

    • I hope all the people who replied slowing down are not travelling on the right-most lane on the expressway...cos there are people who have legitimate reasons for going fast...if U want to stay at 90km/h...its ur choice...nobody can fault U for doing that...but dont block the right-most lane just because U are at 90km/h...

As said by other forumites.., only do this when not in the 1st lane on the highway. If u really want to get under their skin, u gradually decrease speed. Up to the point they can't take it, force them into submission and overtake as they should have done in the first place.

Happened to me a couple of times. The more they push, the slower I go, just to spite these tailgaters. All I know is, if I do jam brake.., to avoid something in front; they will be liable to pay for damages. That'll stand up in court no doubt.., u can take that to the bank for sure... But hey, if ur are travelling 70km/h in a 90km/h zone.., in the first lane... then u shouldn't be in the first lane.. So go figure...
