Falken is a good brand....
I know a good place to change tyres.. good serivces too... If you know bukit merah... its located at the HDB office(previously) in bukit merah... Very near tiongbaru..
I was just checking for the four digit code that specifies date of manufacture. Couldn't find it.
Is it edged along the tyre's rim?
Continental is definitely the best! Just doesn't come cheap...Pirelli is also good. Surprisingly, Firestone works wonders...very quiet and smooth. Hankook is surprisingly not bad too...
Whichever brand of tyres you use, always make sure that the screws of all your tyres are fastened properly especially after leaving the workshop..

Continental good, but still can't compare to Pirelli or Michelin when you compare these three brands of tyres, of the same category, together.
Pirelli,if you're willing to fork out abt $700+ per tire that is ![]()

Don't talk about the P-Zeros la. LOL.

Yo gasband, any recommendations for 235/60R16 tyres? First time I'm doing this.
Was told by the workship to go for yokohama, they are in $150 range
Figured what I need are low noise, gd grip and decent FC.
AA has some recommended tyre shops - Link
Do people browse shops and select their tyres or do they make immediate arrangements with their workshops, order the tyres and workshops just fit them in?
Is wheel alignment done when you change all 4 tyres or is that an additional procedure?
What's electronic balancing?
Yokohama Aspec dB might be the one the workshop is recommending you. And wheel alignment is an extra service, have to pay for it in addition to changing your tyres.
Is wheel alignment a must even for accident free car?
Heard from my friend he did it once after an accident, paid around 1K for it.
Went over the kerb at around 50-60km/hr before, is it better/safer to do wheel alignment? I don't feel problems with steering so far.
Yokohama Aspec dB looks ok. Some tires have red rings around it, design looks nice but no yokohama ones with red rings around it when i googled.
Anyone knows of a good tyre shop I can go browse?
soleachip: u can try michelin pp2 or something like that. quiet and long lasting. grip and noise usually dont go hand in hand. what do u mean by red rings?
as for wheel alignment and balancing, good to get it done when u change tyres. do remember to do tyre rotation too occasionally. i get it done once in around every 2 months.
yokohama aspec db is quite a good set of tyres too for someone with a tighter budget. for me, i personally feel that since the wheels are the only components of the car that is touching the ground, i will not compromise on them. i've just changed to a set of continental contisportcontact 3 and they are damn damn damn good! but expensive too.
I doubt the Michelin Pilot Primacy is a set o f quiet tyres. My uncle's S40 came factory fitted with it. I know it's grippy and well balanced because I drove it before, but not exactly very quiet or comfortable.
But otherwise, you are right. No matter how much horsepower and torque you have, it is four small patches of rubber putting down all the power down onto the road for you. So choosing a good set of tyres is important.
My current ones are hankook, tread depth is ok and still usable, don't think I'll splurge on anything more $200 per tyre. I just think it makes sense to have them changed before the monsoon season comes. After some research, Michelin and Bridgestone are way beyond my budget.
Not driving a continental car so don't need continental tyres. I think Yokohama should be fine. Apart from Aspec dB, what others would anyone recommend. Won't have the opportunity to test the tyres so need some opinions.
I think the red rings I was referring to are black/red rims, mainly for vanity. Are those painted or are they sold as it is?

I think the red ring you saw was part of the design of the rims and not the tyres?

Rims are not included with tyres? They look like this: Link

Yup, it's part of the alloy rim's design and not the tyre's design. And when you buy tyres, of course rims are not included! ![]()

Rims are rims, tyres are tyres.
ok thanks for the information. it's not my fault, no one told me that.
they must sell rims and tyres at the same shop. so my last question, which stores do people go to when they want to get tyres and rims? soh brothers?

Stamford is another one.
alleggerita: the pp is quite a quiet set. i tested before. falken st-115 isnt that bad too.
soleachip: continental is a brand. made in germany. u mixed up already la! hahaha. anyway u can try www.tyrereviews.co.uk or www.tirerack.com for reviews. not very comprehensive but enough to give u a rough idea.

It's quiet for the first 1.5 years, after that it becomes noisy. ![]()
Added: The website you gave says it all, Tirerack
4.3/10 for Noise Comfort, I totally agree. ![]()
ic. mine didnt last even 1 year due to my driving style. =D in fact the only tyre that lasted more than a year for me was toyo t1r. and the most noisy of the lot so far. im currently loving my CSC3. wanna try either bridgestone potenza series and michelin pilot sport ps2 for my next set.
ah ok... thanks to all for advice given.

Why not Pirelli P-Zero Rosso/Corsa? ![]()
Added: Or rather, consider the whole P-Zero range in general. ![]()
what's the price range? the csc3 is the most expensive set for me so far. burn a rather big hole in my pocket leh.
