familiarity with the vehicle u r driving is a very important
factor causing accidents big or small .....

normally accidents happen when drivers .. esp new drivers who
are unfamiliar with the car .. e.g. its biting point ... braking
distance .. accerleration power etc ...

word of advice is to keep a safe speed ( 70-90) on normal
roads .... not exceeding 100 on expressways ..... n keep a safe
following distance ...

n yes .. its good to have an experienced driver beside u for the
first few times u drive ....

most importantly is apply wat u haf learnt in driving lessons
.... all the safety checks etc .... and DO NOT ever drink n drive
...

have fun driving ...

Accident serves as a good, damn good reminder that we should not
be complacent when driving. Provided you survived it and no one was
hurt!

I know. I whacked a stationary car the day I collected my
license cos I was complacent and distracted!

Lesson for all (who have not passed and those lending cars to
first timer), never drive alone when you just passed. Never do
anything else like answering calls, checking sms, looking at
scenery, etc...

A large part of driving comes from street awareness, understanding
of the traffic and vehicle. These instincts need time to
develop.

How much was the damage?

Those who are assessed by their instructors ready to book

need the government's licence. Licence means permission. Permission
to drive on public roads. Therefore when you take the TP test you
are already qualified to drive. If you are not qualified to drive,

agree. those who think they r really good drivers r usually the
dangerous ones who weave in and out of traffice and haven't got
into an accident yet.

Frankly - if you failed that many time, it is really that your
skill at driving is not really that good. The fact is if you have
the right skill the accident would not happened !!!

As for common sense, judgement & adaptation ....... -
if you have it, face the fact - you would not have the
accident also.

If you are a weak driver, unable to concentrate -
you should drive slower, short distances and know where
the damn brake is - to get use to driving first.

You just have to stop trying tell yourself that you are qualified
to drive just because you got your licence !!! There is still no
excuse for having the accident, you have to face it , and not try
to come here to justify that it is just a moment of error !!!

Count yourself and your niece that you are lucky to be alive
!!!

*Sigh* Another one...

Well, my question is, do you have any facts to support your
statement that "if you failed that many time, it is really that
your skill at driving is not really that good."

So are you saying that those who pass their TP the first
time would AUTOMATICALLY be inclined to drive? Even with say,
not much driving experience, but just because they pass on their
first attempt, it'll be unlikely that they'll get into an
accident?

That's a load of crap and you know it. And also, please tell me,
just where exactly in all of my postings here have I ever tried to
JUSTIFY my error???

"You just have to stop trying tell yourself that you are
qualified to drive just because you got your licence !!!"

What kind of stupid reasoning is that? I'm not even going
to bother to justify such stupidity.

Dude, seriously, if you have nothing constructive to comment
about, why even bother?

Hi everyone!

Thanks for your comments.

HolySniper.. only dip holder, so hao lian? Then again what have
you being a dip holder got anything to do with your ability to
drive? One of my friend's colleague, this super cocky guy, is
extremely highly educated, drives a fancy car, but according to my
friend, he's the worst driver ever! After offered a lift by him one
day, my friend swore never to get in the same car again!

So your theory of ''BUT when u can fail so many times before
passing, it shows tat ur motor skills, estimation, confidence and
judgement is not that good.. not good at adapting to changes?''
sounds so ridiculously lame, it's bordering on mild
retardation.

So are you trying to say if I were to pass on my first attempt,
I'm automatically a super duper perfect driver? Granted, there are
those who're just inclined to drive, and many others, like me, who
needs more practice before getting the hang of it. Not good at
adapting to changes? Nah, hardly. I grew up poor, and if there's
one thing that I've learned from my humble beginnings, I've learned
to adapt to everything revolving around me and not the latter.

i've been watching the thread frm sat night but not said anything
it's good that some of you have examples of first-time TP testee
passers who have been involved in accidents. but in an argument, we
need statistics to further back up the examples. i wish to type
long2. but i'm tired after spending a day in hospital.

so nox, with that line of yours... which is the problem? me being
malay or me using my dad's car so i can shuttle between tampines
& the far west?

i smile at your weak attempt. but nevertheless, one thumb up for
you. :)

this week, i'll be in hospital everyday. so continue all the
bickering you want. have a great week ahead.

he/she didnt clear it the first few times...

The point here is that as long as the person is able to clear
the test(be it driving test or O level or watever)...then that
person should have the skills and knowledge required for that level
of competency...at least theroretically-speaking...

yes. it isnt fair after all the money and time spent.

from the start, i simply typed it as a thought. i certainly didnt
expect myself to be shot down as arrogant, a show-off, a malay boy
using a car my dad bought using his retirement money....

i wish to type a long explaination at why i came to such a thought.
but i dont think it's wise lest i get shot down again by some
keyboard warriors.

sigh... another topic for over inflated egos to come out and
play...

in particular 2 kids who passed their driving test on the first
try...

talks of driving at fast speeds and boasting of superhuman
driving capabilities while at the same time making degratory
remarks of TS's ability...

one of them... i still remember his immature talks of F1 heroics
at the traffic light with a rented car... juz wun learn and comes
back with more childish remarks.... sigh...

the other one... a malay boy driving his family's grey car in
which his father used his cpf money to buy... living with the
constant fear that pple do not know he is driving a car of a

thread to let pple know of his car and his skills....

these are typical examples of why a run-away ego can make u
look stupid and childish...

grow up pls...

well, they say the most painful lesson will have the most effect
on you...

but something bugs me, shudnt the TP completely disqualify/bar
someone from driving once he fails a 2nd/3rd or multiple
times?

taking multiple times and yet not passing more or less would say,
he/she just cannot drive. it's like having a student retain and
take the O levels 3/4 times. what say you all?
