i was involved in a similar accident before too ... some fellow kissed my car's ass ....
no damage to mine, but one side of his bumper fell off ...
fellow was pissed, even though he banged into my ass .... I told him to stick it up his own ass ... cos the insurers, and the TP, will both tell you ....
if you cannot break in time, you were probably travelling too fast and/or following too closely ....
the 2 second rule may be bullshit in real driving conditions, but when the shit hits .... the fault is still going to be yours ....

Yup, sadly. Law is the law.
ya man.
shitty law.
couldnt brake in time. cuz it was kinda sudden. didnt expect it. i guess was dreaming too. =)

how many cars claimed from you?
Seriously, writing it off would be a better choice. Because once you fix this bad damage, it'll be in your car's accident history already. And if you intend to sell it off next time, value would be very low because your car has a bad past.
ah shit.
you shld hv told me earlier on..
anyway if write off, i dont knw how much they'll pay me. then my outstanding bank loan also cham..
im the 5th car.
so 4 cars claim frm me. plus my own.
very shitty

indeed.
so you didn't write off?
i didnt write off.
the car is still in superb condition..
just that when travelling above 90km/h, the engine sounds bit noisy n hard, like too taxing for it. never used to be like this.
Certainly not fixed properly. My uncle's vehicle got involved in an accident recently too. Frontal impact as well, but slightly offset to the left side, but no airbags deployed. Car got to be towed off.
After repairs looks absolutely fine externally, but engine bay emits a strange whining noise that's faint but audible. The whine is always there regardless of engine speed (rpm). It's probably not from the engine since it's unaffected by rpm. Probably not the gearbox too. Until now source of whining still cannot be found.
ah. then how
my airbags got deployed.
my rpm sometimes can shoot to 3000 3500 when slowly accelerating to only 70,80km/h
the hard dragging noise from e engine is alw thr when travelling 90 onwards. sometimes even from 80..
my front part of bonnet got hit, dented all the way in. but the mechanic told me engine not affected. i hope he wasnt lying..
how come you are the last car and you have to pay for so much? Did all of the cars stop in a traffic jam and your car happens to knock on the car in front and due to momentum, all the other cars get hit as well?
If that's not the case, i think the fault lies in the car in front lor. Must be the front car suddenly brake, causing all the cars behind to crash.

Have you observe before what's the rpm at 70-80km/h last time before the accident? If the rpm is abnormally high now, there's definitely a problem somewhere.
The mechanic might be right. Engine might still be in good condition because every car has a crumple zone in front and behind of the engine. Even if the front of the car is mashed up, it might only be the crumple zone gone, and the engine left untouched.
Imagine | 0 | <-- this is the engine bay and the "0" is the engine. After accident --> |0|, engine still intact. Pardon my poor diagram.
