    • Is it true that when a car is used for a 6mth , the fc  of a car will drop ?

My car use to get around 14-15 per litres , now only 11-12

    • nt true. but along the way if something or some component went wrong u may get a low mileage.

just curious, how did u calculate ur mileage? were the two comparisons done on similar driving techniques and roads? mileage on the highway and in city is a big diff u know.

    • Yup , i am calculating on the same travel area and driving techniques . Cause the only place i go will be from house to school.. and the road i take are all the same .

I calculate by pumping full tank and when it appear E i go to the petrol station and pump . Receipt will show the amount of petrol pump , so i took the amount divide by the amount of distance travelled .

    • how do u know it's full? when the pump nozzle automatically shuts off or you actually look into the tank when u pump? looking into the tank until u see the petrol level is almost to the brink is a better indicator if its full cuz sometimes the nozzle will shut off w/o any reason.

anyways, it seems u have lost quite some mileage there. was the car new or used 6mths ago? r u using the same engine oil?

    • Any change in driving patterns? (Rough acceleration etc)

Also, check your tyre pressure and inflate it accordingly. (My fuel consumption for my car dropped from 8.5km/l to 7.6km/l and this were due to the tyres itself.)

Would be best if you could send the car in to your workshop for a diagnostic check - radiator coolant, fan belt, exhaust leak etc.

Although your car is new I understand - you can never be too sure about such things.

      Good luck mate!v

    • Oops - wanted to add in this but forgot.

It's not necesary to use the top end engine oil for your axio too.

You may want to try considering Bizol.

But my advice to everyone here - if your engine is older than 3 years onwards, try avoiding using those off shelf oil which cost $30/4 litires. This will result in the burning of the oil due to its "thin-ness".

what you mean by this ...

And my Servicing are all done at comfort delgro ... So i not sure what engine oil they are using .. then do i need to wait till the mileage reach for servicing before i get them to check , or i can go anytime when i am free ...

also any bro mind sharing , isit normal when you drive for awhile in cold raining day and park in neutral gear will have abit of smoke coming out , isit normal ? cause after i move my car to shelter area , no more smoke come out ...

    • There might be a reason why after awhile, your mileage might drop. Maybe there's carbon deposit in your engine. But only 6 months, hmmm, effect shouldn't be that great.

But SG's traffic condition is notorious for forming lots of carbon deposit in the engine.

    • @bill89 - why don't u try changing engine oil per 5k - 7k..

it will help you save quite alot of fc.. i'm  using shell helix 5W40..

sometimes is your tyres pressure too..

Words are in Japanese, but numbers must be numerical right?

FC drops means fuel saving wot....fuel consumption drops!

It should be the other way round la.

yeah true. FC drop, number gets larger.

FC increase, number gets smaller. icon_lol.gif

      fuel efficiency drop, number smaller.
