I was involved in a minor accident and so i sent my car to a workshop authorised by my insurance company. The workshop workers said the repair will be a week. Today is day 4 and i got a call from the workshop to say that 2 of my sports rims, the dvd player and screen inside the car are stolen..They told me that they are not responsible for it for some shitty reasons they give (no security guard to jaga etc). The workshop is those workshops found at Eunos/Ubi that type where all the cars they are repairing are parked around their shop that type...I want to lodge a police report but the stolen items are under whose responsibility? Is the workshop indemnified from any responsibility? Any advice?
i think they should be the ones who are responsible...
else very easy to run a chop shop.. they set up shop, get cars in for "repairs" then arrange to get them "stolen"
besides, they need to be responsible for their own workshop too right?
I think you seriously nid to consult a lawyer on this. And things will drag for months until they find your exact parts in the shop or with the workers or wad. I think you should just go clubbing and have sex or a threesome and get on with life after that.
no evidence how to accuse? Besides, the workshop and me have no contract..they have an agreement with the insurance company...so i guess, i consult the insurance company first? But i dun think they will pay me the full payment of the accessories and the rims..who keeps receipts when they purchase rims or dvd peripherals..and the dvd stuff are after the warranty period..actually, i dun expect such a thing to happen...
wah.. y u tio such workshop? it sounds innocent enuf, but then, it may be foul play too.. better consult ur insurance bah..
u don't have contract with them, it's like equal to u park at house carpark den kena stolen stuff..just that u park at ubi..

i think no need evidence. if they are in possession of your car and the car is in their premise, they have to take accountability of its well being. unless you sign off their indemnity. u got sign anything or not?
hope u get at least some form of payment back, if not everything.. put myself in ur shoe, think liao oso annoyed..
dont consider.. just report police..
you must not give face to such sloppy workshops.. there are out to 'eat' those who are soft hearted.. sorry if i offend you but please, REPORT POLICE..
BTW, i do remember a similar case which happened a few months back right? he reported police too..

i think the mechanic doesnt have a license, drove the car and banged the car right?
I encounter similar thing like you. Just go after the Insurance company and request for payment. Let the insurance company decide who should pay. I make them pay all my loses.
