Sorry, common misconception. Airbags don't save you at any speeds. It's only 100% effective at 60km/h. That goes the same for the crumple zones at the front, also 60km/h effective. ABS & EBD is only effective if the driver steps on the brake pedal damn hard. And ESP is only a safety net, breach it and it's useless. So meaning to say, so many safety features, it's only effective if the driver is safe too. Travelling at 150km/h, if the driver can't slow down in time and ram into a barrier at 80-100km/h, you can say byebye.
A car packed full of safety features doesn't guarantee that you are 100% safe from accident....If u are a kayu driver....u risked being killed in an accident too....

Exactly what I'm implying. That's what caused the death of Princess Diana. She was in such a safe car. A Mercedes S-Class that was built like a vault. Yet, she's dead.

We only have 1 precious life.... It's so sad that if people die just like that....
So scary, next time muz call driver to slow down...btw sonatas r oso damn fast too,i sat one e other day,e mid-range power is damn good, can hit 120 easily...didn't realise he was hitting 140 until i peep at his speedo..the ride is so stable and quiet,i tot he was running below 100kmh.I was like "WTF",thanks to e 146bhp 2.0 turbo
Modern turbodiesels are famous for their huge mid-range torque. The in-gear acceleration is astonishing, which means overtaking power is very good. If you meet a E220 CDI or Sonata 2.0 CRDi on the expressway, just let them overtake you. No point fighting with them. ![]()

Not only will I let them overtake me, I will also stay as far from them as possible.

Kia Magentis is more powerful than Sonatas,Sonatas a bit tame.If i'm driving rental vehicles suchs as Taxis i also whack the accelerator mah,Sometimes its not the power issue its the attitude

The power of Mercedes turbo-diesel. You're lucky it's the baseline E220, if it's the top-of-the-line E420 CDi you'll be screaming for help ![]()
Most of time i lucky enough to get the mercs taxi... n most of the time i was pissed as drunk already n dunno whats going on. hahaha.. all i now is i arrive my destinations very fast. Merc got good safety record.. so i dun really mind that much.

if $$ is not a prob to you, then book one & experience the ride..
All I can say about the Merc E220 CDi is that the engine is considered refined enough for a diesel, though I doubt it's the smoothest and quietest around.
The ride is not as soft as a Crown, but the Crown is soft till the extent of the ride feeling wallowy and frequently crashing into its bumpstops. The Merc's ride is firmer, but body movement is much much much much more well controlled and still comfortable.
Added: And, surprise surprise, I think the Sonata's ride comes close to the Merc's ride. Except maybe the Merc has better NVH levels, hence it's more comfortable. And the Merc probably has better damping and spring rates. The Merc's body is better tied down than the Sonata. Sometimes some undulations might confuse the Sonata's suspension, and it'll bounce more than thrice, the Merc rarely more than twice. But overall, very close IMHO.
Cool...makes me want to go for my first Merc ride...
Here's some details for the leaked W212 E220 and E250 CDi.

As u can see, they have improved the turbodiesel which is now twin-turbocharged in all range. In the baseline E220, it now packs 400n/m(which most likely the cab companies gonna use again). But if they decide to go for the more powerful E250...even the tuned Evo Xs gonna watch out ![]()
A twin turbocharged inline-4 diesel engine producing 204 horsepower? Sounds familiar but we are not taking another look at the engine powering the BMW 123d again here, instead this is Mercedes-Benz’s new OM651 turbodiesel engine, which is available in 3 stages of tune.
In the 250 CDI state of tune, the 2,143cc turbodiesel produces 204 horsepower at 4,200rpm and 500Nm of torque between 1,600rpm and 1,800rpm. Two lower states of tune are available - a 220 CDI tuning which results in 170 horsepower between 3,200rpm and 4,800rpm and 400Nm of torque between 1,400rpm and 2,800rpm, and another 200 CDI tuning produces 136 horses between 3,000 and 4,600rpm, and 330Nm of torque between 1,600rpm and 2,800rpm. Installed in the W204 C-Class, the 204 horsepower engine pushes it up to 100km/h in a mere 7.7 seconds, with 60 to 120km/h taking 9.4 seconds.
they ought to have just one E250 coz I'm dying to try it..![]()
I think the cab companies gonna have to set aside a huge sum of money. For tires, that is - 500n/m is already enough to shed rubber on green light ![]()
not many, juz 1 enough..
OT: I'm currently reading the mercedes enthusiast mag jan 2009 issue, very interesting..

Let there be smoke. ![]()
The E250 CDI cannot win the Evo X from a standstill la, but mid-speed acceleration is another story............. ![]()
What a joke!If really 2.5 turbodiesel can smoke Evos then every speed maniac would change to a Turbodiesel cars.Even the great Skoda Superbs cant win WRXs fully.Like what i emphasize b4 their speed to 120 kmh is damm fast you can't feel anything.I took cabs almost everyday from Changi Airport to my home.Chyrsler,Toyotas,Peugeots,Merc,Hyundais,Hondas,Kias you name it.I can bet you the speedometer are not accurate.

take my uncle's vito which i am driving during weekends for example.. bought it bout 65+k in 2000 and he treats it like a dirt.. till now (which is 9 yrs on), it has nv let me down in terms of comparing other commercial veh makes for its reliability and quality ..

I didnt say the E250 could smoke Evos, i said that the latter should watch out.
That's as simple as 0-100km/h sprint or persistance "sticking to the tail", as alle said.
