    • Hi all,

Waited for a friend inside Outram MRT today and he was late for more than an hour. When I got out later at Boon Lay, I couldn't exit and there was a tag which mentioned 'Overstay' on the access gate panels. So was just wondering how long do I need to remain inside the MRT station before I'm considered overstaying and also there is a charge for overstaying right? Because I realised my ez-link amount decreased but quite a substantial amount after exiting.

    • did you ask the staff at the station control to verify..

fyi, you can use the General Ticketing machine (GTM) to check your ez-link card for all the trips you made & perhaps you can see why it has decreased by so much..

    • Ermm I entered in Bishan, left at Boon Lay. Altogether it took longer than 2 hours la. =X I didn't know how long I could stay inside. Cos I've waited for people inside before and nothing happened (must be within the time limit in the past that's why). Noob here la. :P

    • The time penalty is $2.00.

      Time limit are as follows:

Enter and exit from the same station: 20 mins
Exit 1 to 4 stations away: 40 mins
Exit 5 to 9 Stations away: 60 mins
Exit 10 to 15 stations away: 75 mins
Exit 16 to 24 stations away: 100 mins
Exit over 24 stations away: 120 mins

    • actually their are at least 5 sensor when you walk across the gate.

all sensor need to clear in sequence before the gate will close or after expired time.

if the person in front is within your hand reach, stop any one of the sensor with your tumb, while the person in front is walking, the gate will remain open, even the person has completed walk across, with your tumb blocking any one sensor,
