    • After disappearing quite awhile from SGForum, I dont believe my re-appearance will be about something like this.

Today I had a very bad experience with an old lady over a sit-up bench. She was sitting on the bench when I just merely ask her to let me have the sit-up bench for my sit up. The next thing I know, she start flaring me for being rude to her for asking her to give up the sit up bench.

What the fuss about? Beat me.

Isnt a sit up bench primary purpose is for sit up? So why I cant ask her to let me have the bench for sit up? Does anyone ever encounter something like this?

Anyway I have put everything in detail in my blog. What an evening.

    • No other sit-up bench around or you're blind not to see another one or you're dumb enough to go to a place where there is only ONE sit-up bench. angel.png

    • For your info parn, there is ONLY one sit up bench at that exercise area. If there happen to be another one I wont even approach her, I can always use the second avaliable one. And beside, which exercise area have you ever seen to have 2 sit up benches? Pardon me for most exercise area I been to, there is always only one sit up bench.

    • She was just sitting there or was she in between sets? Maybe she got aggitated about being bumped off the bench and not being able to finish her workout?

Wait, what your definition of “old”?

    • Hi cassie

She was sitting on the bench munching her tidbits (as I have stated in my blog). I am pretty bad at guessing woman age tongue.png but my guess is around 50-60. Anyway during the argument she confirm herself that she is not doing any sit up.

    • Hi Master

That is what I used to do....and told you I ever waited for more than an hour before just to have the people left the bench so that I can use it (not very productive).

Beside I see no harm in asking the person to let me have the bench. I have been doing that for 2 years now and so far people are kind and understanding enough to let me used it.

Truth is I am not bother about whether anyone give any shit about my blog. I just feel I need some place to let it all out.

And since I can just link it, why not and save it for people who want to know the detail to read it and left the summary for those who like it short and brief here.

Well, the elderly being the elderly, arent that active and maybe that bench may just be the nearest respite for them..

Arent there alternatives to sit ups that you can improvise such as knee tuck jumps...

      Hi gigabyte14

Normally I dont go straight to sit up. I will rest for about 5 mins then I will do my chin up and my back push up before I do my sit up. I believe that is well around 7-10 mins beforr I approach her to let me have the sit up bench.

    • Well I’ve asked guys thousands of times if I could share equipment / machines at the gym – and these peeps are actually working out and not sitting there staring into space and munching. 10 outta 10 have been obliging – so I guess you just had the unfortunate luck of bumping into a grouchy lady.

    • Well, of course she is not very nice to take the bench like that, even more so if there are other seats around. And she could have told you gently.

However, in this case, I feel that it is not that she is mean. It seems as though she feels posessive not of the seat. Possibly her dignity. Some old people do not like being told by younger people what to do.

      Hi Master-_-

Understand your concern here. I may not be the nicest person in the world, but I am not a iron hearted. If you had see her walk, I dont htink you will see her as inactive. And beside less that 10 meter away under the HDB, there is 4 avaliable empty benches.

      Hi cassie

I agree. So far I had been doing that for 2 years. Never had such incident before. Just this once.

      Hi Beautiful951

Frankly I will be an as*h*** if I told her to give up the bench. I swear I merely ask her to let me have the bench (with respect and use the magic word 'please'). I just dont why it tick her off.
