Winter's here. Yup, as much as those living in the northern hemisphere would like to believe otherwise, last night's blast of frigid air from Canada (notice nothing good ever comes out of Canada?
) plunged temperatures from the upper 30s yesterday to just 4°F
(-16°C) this morning, and served to remind us of what to expect in
the next few months. The cold front that moved through the midwest
also brought wind gusts of up to 40 mph this morning, resulting in
wind chills down to -10°F (-23°C).
Here's hoping the SO contingent manage to keep warm and comfortable this season.

Fortunately, we received only a very light dusting of snow last night--not enough to cause any problems on the roads.
And need I remind you that, in that part of the North American continent, the cold winds normally blow from the north? The warm, gentle and caressing breezes that grace Canada during the summer months blow from the US; in return, we get to endure the bitterly cold, harsh and oppressive weather that blows out of Canada during the winter months.
Not a fair trade at all, I say!

As for the weather, I really cannot complain. It's been pouring here since early this morning and what a relief. We really need the rain. It hasn't rained here for God knows how long, everything's brown. My only complaint is that I can't figure out the bloody thermostat on our new heat pump. Grrrr!!!Edited by jetta 01 Dec `07, 7:47AM

Live report from chicago... We are exp -4 or -5 degree celsius last nite. Otherwise we are around 3 to -1, +/- 1 degree. Have been icy this few days but forecast showing that next wk is going to snow. And chicago is damn cold man. Heard from my colleague it reaches -30 degree celsius here before, hope i will be out of here before it reaches there.
