Hey there.. i'm from farrer park boxing gym.. i can give u the coach's number..and well.. as for the location.. look for farrer park primary school.. it's rite by the big field beside it.. i had alotta trouble finding it too.. but once u know where it is.. it's pretty easy to reach the place.. =]

Hello everyone,

I do not know about the other boxing places/clubs , but ive been training under the ex national Coach Kadir and its been good :) Theres a lot of people from different background / countries that go there and overall the coach is a true professional who brings the best students to international tournaments. His students are ex-champions for gods sake...i even met the last singapore sea games boxing gold medallist who was under him...wow..

if i'm not wrong.. the old turf club opened a new boxing gym. The coach name is " alexis" whose was from combat academy.

Boxing is a sport , street fighting is not.

Take a look at another great puncher in the Heavyweight Division, Ken Norton who is now also a living zombie and if you want to talk about taking punishment then I would vote for Smokin Joe Frazier.Boxing is a dangerous sport and i guess for amatuers like us it should be OK but still dont forget to use your head when you box.

During my time there were no head gear for protection in amateur boxing and the rules were different.For example you could ‘rope a dope’ like Ali style where you cover yourself by not punching back until your opponent is all tire out and then you make your move,these days if you dont punch back and you look like you are in trouble the ref would count it as a technical knockout.If you remember how Ali fought his fight in Africa against George Foreman you would know what I mean.To me George is the greatest puncher ever,the knockout artist and the real King of the Ring not Ali because if you follow modern rules Muhammed Ali would have lost that fight.

It's not the same dude ! Boxing is not just about hitting a face/ body blows but learning how to absorb punches and avoid getting hurt yourself in the ring.I learned my boxing in the army where you just put on the gloves and beat the crap out of your platoon mates just like what you might do in your high school but at a competitive level be prepared to get clobbered also otherwise dont even bother to take up this sport.

wah...very far for u also. btw i stay in jurong west almost can fight with urs liao. never check out farrer park before but i saw youtube video on their training and i personally liked it. cos they did quite a bit of sparring. my definition of a gd sch is must have frequent sparring...kadir i'm not too sure yet. u can try searching for singapore boxing in youtube

errm in any case i’ll most likely be joining farrer park. kadir just seems too far for me, but i think he shuld be pretty gd. no matter wat he is still a medalist. any idea how to start? just go down and start boxing?

Err... i was told abt that by a friend. But i need to really confirm with ppl here. Coz, like u say, before entering needa check on which is better, so that i can be sure im in good hands or surrounded with skillful ppl u see. Kadir sch is an outdoor training school is it? if rain how sial.

And anyone trained under bala coach at farrer park? is he a good coach?

u know some ppl are good at boxing but cant teach though.

Hey you want to be good at it you might as well train with the best.East and West Singapore is less that an hour difference if you take an MRT.

This Kadir guy is one of SIngapore's boxing legend I think so he must be pretty good.
