computer very slow because of norton anti-virus replied by Erwin_Rommel @ Mon, 19 Nov 2007 08:23:35 +0800

Originally posted by ah-soh:

I have been using Norton antivirus (renewed
my subscription for 1 year during June) but I have found that with
norton anti-virus installed on my comp it seems to be making my
comp very slow.

At first when I installed norton I only needs 2-3 minutes to start
the comp before i can connect to the internet but now i needs
almost 10 minutes before i can connect to the net. i tried removing
unwanted programmes and files in my comp but to no avail.

worse still, on most occasions, after i connected to the net and
when norton is doing auto update my comp will hang for a couple of
minutes before resuming to normal.

so may i know what can i do to counter this problem and are there
better anti virus tools besides norton? thks

Kaspersky and NOD32.

Norton,McAfee and Trend Micro all 3 are known to lag the
computer.
