    • Erm i going to buy notebook soon, but i am kinda confuse or dont know which brand should i choose..so i here to ask for comment or which brand og notebook is the best for both gaming and work.

thanks for the comment and info in advance Very Happy

      add on.

erm well currently i am attracted to this http://www.sony.com.sg/microsite/vaio/products/vaio_sz/vgn_sz56gnb/index.html

is sony brand better compare to acer, asus ?

I intend to play WorldOfWarcraft on my labtop,
reason why i want a gaming labtop,
-during break time that 1-2hours break...
      -project
-able to bring to my friend house to do project > gaming
-basically i just need a labtop to handle the time in school,as i have
      a gaming desktop at home...

so my budget is around $2000-$3000 slightly abit more it okay.
you guy might want to help me choosing some labtop and provide me
the site to the labtop spec ? to minimize my choice.I go for quality as i
dont want 1year to send in for check up lols Very Happy

    • Asus. (gaming and performance).

      HP/Compaq (reliability)

Sony (Blink Blink, Only high end ones are made in Japan. Quality Questionable)

Acer (Cheap, Depends on your luck - some spoils quickly, some lasts long)

      Dell (XPS series for gaming)

      Toshiba (Heat Issues)

    • For gamers, the recommendation is to stay off notebooks. If you are a working adult, I would recommend Asus. If you are a student, please get a gaming PC instead. It’s way cheaper than getting a gaming notebook.

    • Acer gives good value for $. Asus is slightly more premium Smile

a few things to consider when buying a laptop:

      Weight (1.8-3kg?)
      LCD Size (12.1" - 15.4")
Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo > AMD Mobile)
      RAM (1 - 2GB Min)
      Graphics Card
      ----------------------
As for a gaming laptop, what kind of Games do you intend to play on your future laptop?

MapleStory/ Warcraft III - Intel GMA good enough

      Granado Espada/ Hellgate London/ C & C 3 - At least a nVidia 7600 or aTi X1600

Anything higher - Try nVidaia GeForce 8800GT for laptops...but they will burn you, not just in the wallet, but energy consumption and heat dissipation.

HP/Compaq = Soso. Price also Soso

Sony = Expensive and not very good specs

Apple MacBook = VERY expensive and not very good specs. Not very high quality either. You are just paying for Mac OS X

    • Buying Sony is all about the Brand Name. You pay $1000 for the Sony name.

A GeForce 8400M is far lousier than GeForce 7600M...

Can one. Tune your graphics card and game quality down and add RAM to the comp.

HP/Compaq is not the same thing. Under same company doesn't mean they are the same. HP laptops can be very expensive for average specs and are targetted towards another group of people.

There are also average priced laptops with a little than better specs, geared towards yet another group of people.

Compaq is geared towards yet another group of consumers.

And Courts is not recommended here except for newbies who basically know nothing. Go to Courts = tio tok

      Same for Harvey Norman.

There's no big heat issues with Dell as far as I'm aware of. Other than the exploding batteries which was quite long ago...

Apple is simply not for gaming. For work, yes. Comparing Apple with Windows is like comparing apple and pear. Both are fruits, yes. But inside, everything is different.

If you find the price of Asus is too high, get an Acer or Dell.
