Hi, i'm currently a sp student doing media and communications this year, and i need to get a notebook. i want my notebook to be for study purposes and gaming as well...currently im interested in two brands: hp compaq and acer, but i heard that acer laptops crashed easily...hope that this forum may help me get a clearer idea on which laptop to buy.
below are the specs of the three laptops i will want to buy:

This is basically the 3 models i have decided,but i hope i can get one that can last and work effectively as well...hope for your comments...

The acer has the best specs if you compare the 3 laptops followed by the b2100 and the v3700
hmm, like what mayi said, there are reliability problems with the acers -- either it can last v-long or it will die after months of usage.
You can take a risk though, but roughly hw many times in your poly years would u change your laptop?
once/ year?
whole duration of poly?

That's a tricky question.well it's kinda fated.
There are ways to extend and mantain it.
- Try to keep the laptop and laptop adaptor as cool as possible -- to prevent the burn out of parts. you can do this by having a fan to blow over it/ get a laptop cooling pad or both.
- Try not to over work it -- overworking of processors/graphics/fans can cause the life span to shorten
- Try not to bump your laptop here and there.
- Keep the laptop clean (maintain cleanliness)
- Defrag regularly (faster laptop)
- Scan for viruses/spyware regularly

Acer is notorious for unreliability.Compaq is reliable AND the small screen is fine...the resolution for both the V3000 and B1200 is the same anyway.Batt life for the B1200 is 2 hours for light
Whats more the B1200 is very light at 1.9kg.Ah ok,TS has choosen his own choice.Thank goodness he didnt choose Acer
Tsk...a small screen is better then having a dated Merom processor mayi....

Compaq no good. The battery will die very easily and you will get power failure very soon.
Yours should be maintenance issues. If you the battery charging forever using ac, and now discharging it, it's lifespan will reduce. Just like someone who doesnt exerciese and eats junk food all day long. It aint so for mayi (compaq) and mine. (hp)(approx 1 year old this june and it's batt still lasts ~2h15mins)
