quicktime + Vista+ compaq laptop = BSOD? replied by ndmmxiaomayi @ Sun, 18 May 2008 01:56:16 +0800

I don't think Quicktime use any drivers, which is a cause for
nearly all BSODs.

Do you have other multimedia players installed?

Also note that Compaq comes with a lot of other crap software
installed, including multimedia players. Those can cause trouble as
they have their own codecs (which works a little like drivers) and
can be a headache to solve.

i have a compaq laptop, model is F576AU , is always having blue
screen of death when quicktime is installed. The blue screen came
on random, and the error msg is: IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL. I am
sure the culprit is quicktime, as after uninstalling quicktime, the
BSOD is gone. I am running vista btw. I already installed the
latest version of quicktime, but still the same. My friend who is
also using compaq laptop, but with XP , dont have this prob. Y is
this so?
