another note: go tweak your nvidia card for performance instead
of quality. it does help to some extent as your card will focus on
framerate instead of quality.

Disable antiscropic filtering and anti-aliasing. Make sure
texture is set to Medium or lower. Use lower (Medium or Low)
quality shadows and character modeling.

Steps:

defrag your hdd,

if you are using vista - switch to the windows classic
theme, applies for xp too, however it aint much quicker when tried
in xp

Up virtual memory (use hdd as ram)

Windows all ready uses part of your hard drive as "virtual
memory". This means that when the memory of your RAM chips is
exceeded by the tasks your computer is doing, it uses the hard
drive space as memory.
This is very slow as it requires the hard drive to spin around to
access the bytes for memory use.
A better idea is still to get more RAM

not enough ram.

I think me same card as you. I don't even dare to put normal
settings for Call of Duty. you still put highest for everything.
lol

how to know what ram you have... right click on My computer, you
can see how much ram you have. as for brand and ddr 2 or what.. u
have to open up to see ba.. :)

You need a better graphics card to play HL2 with smooth
graphics, while adding more RAM will probably decrease the overall
load time of the game.

Hi all pls help me with running HL2 smoothly replied by Prophecy_Master @ Sat, 31 May 2008 23:00:17 +0800

Recently i started playing half life 2, while the orginal runs
fine on my com. their expansion episode 1 and 2 lags very badly.
all the games are installed on the same com.

i orginally used a 1280x1024 res to play, but it lagged so badly
that i need to change my res to 1024x768.

i don't know is my graphic card too lousy or is it my ram too
small.

i using geforce 6600 with the latest driver

1 gig ram

over 80gig hard drive space free.

when i check the settings in the game, it put all the highest
spects as my recommed settings.

like shadow reflection, high

character detail, high

i tried adjusting these spects but i does't help with the
lag.

so i was thinking is it my ram not high enough ?

will adding more ram smoothen my game play?

if so how do i see which type of ram i am using ?

i hear from my frd got wad DDR 2 DDR .

can anyone help me ? :(

many thanks !!
