      previously, my comp was in the living room. even though the "no signal" msg still flashes, but desktop still starts in 2s time. after which my comp was down and now tt i re located the comp to my room and wanna reformat it, the "no signal" msg flashes and the screen remained black.nth appears at all. what shld i do???

      so the problem lies solely wif the cable? not other problems of video/graphic or whatsoever?

      If you connect it to other monitors and still no signal, it could be the video card, the mainboard, or the video cable.

      VGA cable connection pins can bend or even come off if handled improperly.

      Graphics card, cable, motherboard can all cause problems. It could be the monitor itself.
