      hi,

      whenever i connect my laptop to singnet broadband via usb cable, i always get connected in between, sometimes it last for 2 hours, sometimes after 15 mins. The icon still show that it's connected, but no internet access (get request time out doing ping), in this case i have to unplug the cable and plug back to my laptop and redial again.

      It does not happen to my desktop PC.

      anyone know why?

      it is advisable to use the rj45 port if available

      usb connections are less stable.

      if pc ok but note book got problems indicate problem is with the notebook. try to reinstall/update the usb port driver

      i think he is using wireless.

      i imagine the usb cable links to the wireless adapter which wirelessly connect to router and adsl?

      Singnet modems got USB version.

      But well... he never says...

      Either way... it needs drivers to be installed.

      mine is adsl. i connect using USB.

      my usb should have no problem coz i can connect to thumb drive and have no problem with it.

      is your connection

      laptop -> modem (via usb cable) -> wall phone socket (via rj11 cable)?

      if yes, please indicate brand/model of modem

      Err... modems are different beasts.
