    • my old one is dead so i need to get a new one. I am a basic user with occasional video and picture editing. I also do a bit of gaming. normally i will open up to 10 windows and my firefox will have about 10 tabs.

thinking of a set up like below

      Quad core Q9300

A motherboard that has lan, pci-e 2.0, VGA, dual channel ddr2 (need expert's recommendation biostar good anot? saw it at bliss)

2gb ddr2 667mhz - heard this is the most window xp 32bit can handle?

      320gb hdd sata

a pci-e 256mb gpu... no frills one can le.. no need anything spectacular

a PSU that can support 3 hdd and 2 dvd drives

All the rest i can transfer from my old set up.

How much do you guys think this set up will cost me? I am thinking of quad core for future expansion... i dont wan to have trouble playing diablo 3 in 2 years time lol.

    • motherboard i am not so sure, but maybe a p35?

RAM dual channel u can get corsair xms2( or others), i will recommend a faster clock speed like 800

HDD u can up to 500gb for 190$

graphic card wise would u get a ati or nvidia? i heard that ati is good for video.

      ATI, get a 4850 or 4870

Hmmm, for now this is quite good set up. But two years later?? hmmm

Lets turn the time two years back, where the Nvidia 6xxx/7xxx just pop out?

Godly, premium and worshipped. And come back to today, where's all the cards??

Sold online, thrown away, tortured by extreme voltmods and Overclocking?

So,just get a computer you think worth it now.

IT products last the most on the top performance for maximum 1 year.

Computer performance also do drop after 6 months to 1 year,by 8-25% depending on the run time, overclocked speed, voltage used and other factors.
