Is the power adapter/cable considered an accessory? replied by BangHong @ Wed, 23 Jul 2008 20:22:20 +0800

yup, it's true that they did not cover the warrenty if they said
so. The T&C are very grey, even they say its under 'warranty',
whereas different parts have different time-length of warrenty.

just take note in the future. $20 for a cable is still okay...
what if other expensive accessory in other items next time? Just
clarify more on warrenty terms before purchasing

Originally posted by Dahvoo:

At the IT Show in March, I bought a Mustek digital photo frame
from a stall - Amconics Technology. 4 months later is stopped
working. When brought to their shop at #03-30 Sim Lim Square, I was
told that the power adapter/cable is faulty and that I need to
purchase a new one at $20 because it is an accessory, therefore not
covered by the 12 mths warranty. Accessories have only 7 days
warranty. Peggy Yu, the boss, insisted that, like the power charger
of a mobile phone, it is not covered by warranty.

I protested that without the power adapter/cable, the digital photo
frame doesn't work, so how can it be considered as an accessory,
unlike a mobile phone which runs on batteries.

Is Amconics Technology being unfair, or is it to be accepted?

Thanks.

The phone charger of a mobile phone is warrant for 6months.

Check your warranty card and read what it says. Different
products have different warranty periods + Different views of what
's an accessory ect.
