    • I recently have not been able to update my windows.

It keeps telling me windows office 2003 service pack 3 not installed.

Done the update manually still the same.Whats the problem?

    • Go to Services and make sure "Office Source Engine" service is running. It should be OK then. Always make sure this service is running before you update Microsoft Office.

To get to Services in Vista, press the Window button, in the search box, type "Services". You should see it then and you click on it. For XP, you need to go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools -> Services.

    • I had the same problem. Finally, I went to the Microsoft site to manually download the required update.

      Any idea why?

What is the Status of the service? Is it "Started" or blank? If blank, right click on it and click "Start". Setting it to automatic just means it will auto start the next time you start Windows.
