    • What's worst, my email is automatically sending out junk mails to everyone!!! How did that happen!!!??? How to fix this problem man... Wl damn irritated. And everyday I'll receive so many junk mails although everyone single I report them as junk and phishing scam and I even block the sender and sender domain but I still receive the fucking junk mails on a regular basis everyday. Is hotmail fucked up or wat?

    • If your email is sending junk mails then it might be time to change your password.

You didn't by any chance visit any website (that's unrelated to your email provider) that ask you to key in your email address and email address password, did you?

    • The most common method used to authenticate a user is through verifying the username and password.

If your password is compromised, anybody can pose as you and send out junk.

Just like unsecured wireless networks lead to someone posting a bomb hoax and resulting in the owner getting arrested, you risk getting your identity stolen. The only thing you stand to gain is a rise in the number of enemies.

xmy, the problem is not a compromised password. The spammers are using a new technique and that is, send out mails to non-existing addresses so that the mail bounch back to the person's email address.

For example, I send out an email to nonexistingaddress@singnet.com.sg and I send it out as from xmy@sgforums.com and singnet server will send a no such address reply to xmy@sgforums.com.

The spam filters will not filter out emails from singet servers because, hey, how can singnet be spamming???!!!

So now imagine I send out a million different spam messages to many different email servers (can be done easily by computer programming) then xmy@sgforums.com will receive a million replys from email servers and they are not filtered out by the spam filters.

Inside the replys from the email servers are usually attached the original (spam) message and hey, the spammers have achieved their aim and that is, to send you their spam message without being filtered out!

As an IT consultant, I solve this problem regularly for my clients.

An interesting tactic that the spammers have come up with. But the solution is simple - don't include the original message in the e-mail notification. Besides, even if the From: headers can be spoofed, the e-mail servers can always check the originating IP adddress of the e-mail against blacklists of spammers and ignore their e-mails accordingly.

Know of this technique... but sometimes... answer is usually due to the client rather than the spammer himself.

Roughly half the cases I know of is due to the client. The other half... is because of the spammers.
