    • read widely. Dont just read stuff that interests you. As you read more, you will realise there are lots more interesting things around.

    • Stop visting sgforums.

On a more serious note, read articles through out the net(use google) and try to write at least 2compos weekly.

    • LOL! I was going to say that! Just read proper novels. You’ll get an idea of what good english is. Your writing will improve if you read more. You do have to develop your own writing style though, so that will come with practice.

reading aloud, picture discussion, conversation and compre?

Forcing yourself to read english books, newspapers and tuning in to the BBC might be effective for some but not in all cases as you will soon find it a chore.

Most effective method is to align your interests with English. For example, if you like comics or novels, transfer that very same interests into english comics and/or novels.

    • i was really bad with English last time (not that i am really good now...), as i am from a mandarin-speaking family. i improved myself by watching chinese serials with english subs. But this will only be useful if u are proficient in chinese. i then move on to reading newspaper (started with tabloids like Newpaper, as they are more interesting) and novels. Playing wordy RPGs helps as well.
