Your answer should be 3.28 * 10^2 kJ/kg/K

Heat lost by 160g water = Heat gained by 205g ice

m*c*(change in Temp) = m*(latent heat of fusion)

0.160 * 4200 * (100-0) (you left this out) =
0.205 * (latent heat of fusion)

latent heat of fusion = 327804 = 3.28 * 10^2 kJ/kg/K

Hey guys, i need help with this question:

BLock of ice ( 0 degC ) has a hollow in its top surface.

160g of water ( 100degC ) is poured into the hollow. Heat
capacity of water is 4.20kJ/kg/K

Some ices melts and the mass of water in the hollow is now
365g.

Assuming no atmosphere-related heat gain, find specific latent
heat of fusion of Ice.

Here I did it this way:

Q( Heat lost by 160g water) = Q( Heat gained by
(365-160= 205g) of Ice)

hence:

ml(f) = ml(f)

(0.205)( l(f) ) = (0.160)(4200)

l(f) = 3.28kJ/kg/K

Correct?
