Secondary three Biology June holiday homework 2008

      Topic: Plant Nutrition

Objective: To investigate the growth of a plant

      Instructions:

      1. You are required to sow several seeds and measure the growth of the plants for 3 weeks.  The seed can be any one type of seed of your own choice. It can be bought or dug out from the fruits available in your kitchen at home. Types of seeds you can work with are green bean, red bean, chilly, lime, papaya. You may want to work with several types of seeds, out of which you would submit only one type.
      2. Consider the variable you intend to measure.
      3. Consider how you are going to keep other variables constant, as much as is possible under practical constraints.
      4. Carry  out your investigation and keep a record of your investigation using a table. Your data should allow you to plot a graph as part of your submission.
      5. Use the general rubric provided, or modify it to fit your investigation better. Bonus marks will be awarded for thoughtful modifications made to the rubric.
      6. Rubric is to be used to make a self assessment of your investigation.[No marks for this]

    • Depend on the type(s) of seeds you sow.

    • I think green bean's perhaps easier to grow. Can it survive for 3 weeks? Vary amount of water, sunlight, etc.
