    • Spotting topics is like Russian roulette with a GPMG where only one round out of 1000 is a blank.

And while you may end up scoring high marks if you're lucky (which is a very big if), this is not the way education works.

You may score high marks with this method, but you're not a truly educated person. Period.

Actually venice is very relevant to Singapore, more relevant than iraq-Kuwait.

It's Russian roulette. Either you score high marks if your chosen topics come out, or you get screwed if they don't.

That is to say, chance plays a high factor in what you're doing. Heads, you win big. Tails, you lose big. That doesn't involve a lot of smarts at all, methinks.

And at the end of the day.... 'Exam smart' is not the same as being truly educated.

I sure hope that someday you'll understand.

    • My teacher also mentioned about memorising a few themes, yup. I'm thinking of Venice and Iraq-Kuwait. They might combine with governance in Singapore.

    • Three years ago, everyone thought Venice would come out. But I thought otherwise, seeing how popular this chapter is and thinking that the setters will not give away such big angpow.

      But it came out.

Nevermind though, because I was WELL-PREPARED!

Moral of the story: just study every freaking chapter you're taught!

    • my teacher always advises us not to spot topics. would be great if you briefly try to understand the points. because humans is all about making logical sense.

for example what happens when the economy is on a downslide? naturally, unemployment comes into place, wages decrease, inflation comes in, food shortages, trade imbalances, and eventually people's quality of life takes a plunge. link all the facts up and you get the whole story/ idea.
