Sir Alex Ferguson is mulling over a bid for Celtic star Scott Brown.
The Manchester United manager was in Paris on Wednesday to watch Brown and his Scotland team-mates record their sensational 1-0 victory over France.
And he will have seen nothing in the 22-year-old to dissuade him from making a move.
Midfielder Brown only joined Celtic in the summer in a £4.4million switch from Hibernian.
But he has already been the subject of a rejected £9m transfer deadline-day bid, believed to be from Newcastle, and now Fergie is ready to make his play.
Celtic manager Gordon Strachan would be reluctant to sell Brown, but the Parkhead moneymen are unlikely to sniff at a bid which could see £10m exchange hands and either Darren Fletcher or John O'Shea move in the opposite direction.
Both United players were boyhood Celtic fans and would appease Strachan if he was to lose one of his star men.
Fletcher would slot straight into the Parkhead midfield, while O'Shea would fit nicely alongside Stephen McManus in the heart of the defence.
Brown, close to a move to Rangers in the summer before joining Celtic, was crowned Young Player of the Year as he starred for Hibs last season and has made a solid start to life with the Bhoys.
Long-term, he would provide a ready-made replacement for Paul Scholes, who turns 33 in November.
