Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has dismissed reports linking skipper Steven Gerrard with Manchester City.
"Gerrard is a local player and this is his club. He is a key player for us and he is happy here,” said the Spaniard. "We are improving every year and he knows that we can win trophies. That is the most important thing.
"You never know about other players, they are professionals and this is football. But Gerrard is playing well and if we are improving he will be very, very happy here.
"The key is that he wants to stay here, that is the most important thing. It is not a question of money.
"He has a commitment with the club and the fans, and as a local lad he would prefer to stay here."

The media made him out to be a moneysucker something along the lines of almost signing for Chelsea in the last minute.
The only loyal boys were Carragher and Warnock who didn't make it.
Don't worry, we have Adam Hammil coming out next season, he has a style similar to when Gerrard was only 19

Liverpool shouldn't be to bother if they lose Gerrard now unlike 3, 4 yrs ago... Cos Gerrard is coming to 30 very soon and he seems to be losing his influence in the squad already... And as the season pass, he will definitely slow down and won't be able to play his all action style of up and down the pitch.
Now it looks like Torres is the only one running the team with Alonso and Mascherano doing better... Not to say Gerrard is poor now, its just that the team don't really depend on him that much anymore like they used to... If they can cash in on him now, say like $30m... I would say, take the money and reinvest it on 2 young talented players like Michael Johnson or someone else...
And who ever pays $30m for the present Gerrard, I would say it will be a waste of money... Then again, some clubs just have too much money, so they don't think properly or long term...
