    • its all up to you man to decide..but there is no las stating that u have to take care of her family after marrying your wife...you, as the her husband you can help them with u difficulties if you are able to afford provided not let u own family in hunger...but as for ppl from developing countries....their thinking is like when their daughter married to a rich family i mean compare to your wife family...they expectting more contribution from you in this case...so try help them if u can...but must talk to wife cos i'm sure she knows the financial status of your own family...communicate with u wife and her families members....

      hope these help you

Marry any poor girl from South East Asia and you get this problem.I have a couple of friends who married Isaan girls (Northeast Thailand) and they all suffered the same fate.Years ago I almost become one but that was in the Philippines

    • In our South East Asian Culture when a man marries he would also learn to love his wife's family thus ending up being a Santa Claus all year round

    • As long as they(poor ones) think that you are rich, in their mind its a must. Or not they wont let their daughter marry you.

    • Actually it wouldnt hurt at all to give whatever you can afford but as you know many people are greedy and would think of any excuses to make you rush to the ATM.

    • My friend is a Malaysian. She mentioned that it is expected that in malaysia that when the girl gets married, the guy will have to take care of all the expenses. her money is her money. The husband money is their money. That's the case with my SIL. she is still giving money to her parents in Malaysia but does not pay a single cent for her house, food or even her kids. Basically her husband, the in-laws and my husband (also myself indirectly because they are always coming to my place for stay, bath, eat and whatever) foot the bills.

That's what my PRC relatives did way back...  when we realised that they are free loading off us when they had large farms that does major export business and live in luxury with 3 storey bungalo with pure white marble floors while we slave away in Singapore in our rental flat. So we stopped sending money or letters back. No point at all. They see it our obligation to provide for them while they stopped working for their own survival.
